ooc: did you two transport there or did you walk there passing through the bridge? there's an alien on screen with outlandish make-up waiting to speak to the captain so if you in fact passed through the bridge she would have stopped B'elanna in Janeway's body insisting on talking to her.

ooc: Oh, whoops. Edited above post.

ic: Janeway and Torres began to cross the bridge on their way to sickbay. Even though the situation was bizarre, Janeway didn't want to leave the bridge unaware of their location. Hopefully they could find a way to straighten everything out before too many people had to know.

That plan changed when they discovered that the viewscreen was active.

ic:

The alien female with horridly thick make-up and lashes to make a diva from early 21st century earth seem plain in comparison suddenly got excited at the sight of the captain whom was of course now being occupied by B'elanna.

"Ah, Janeway!" she exclaimed seeing both B'elanna and Janeway beginning to cross the bridge. "I apologize for my tardiness, but I think we should transport you right away to perform the necessary rituals I'm sure you have reviewed in our annals. We have your dilithium crystals ready. 100% pure as you requested."

The air vanished. B'Elanna stared at the woman on the veiw screen trying to remember how to breathe. Every second seemed like a life time. "Of course," she smiled weakly back, "I can't wait. However, right now isn't a perfect time. Can we do the ritual tonight?"
(While Tom watches tv)
Torres: It was pretty boring, until Ensign Farley started snoring and then no one could keep a straight face. Of course, the Doctor wasn't at all amused.
Paris: Oo! Hockey!
Torres: It was a shame that we had to cut the lecture short, but the warp core overloaded and then the Borg invaded and we were all assimilated.
Paris: Ah ha.
Torres: You haven't heard a single thing I've said, have you?

The alien could not hide her astonishment at the captain's audacity.

"Captain," she asked respectfully. "Did you not read the Volume about nocturnal activity being punishable by death? We must perform the rituals right away! We're already behind schedule!"

Janeway had to step in. B'Elanna looked like she was about to burst. "I'm very sorry, Ambassador. Something urgent came up in engineering that I need the captain to take a look at. It shouldn't take long, she'll be ready for the ritual very soon, I promise."

The alien slowly turned to B'elanna and looked at her as though she were nothing but a speck of dust.

"And YOU are?" she said with a sneer.

The hideous looking alien who beginning to look more and more like a decomposing Marilyn Monroe from the mid-20th century raised her bushy eyebrows at B'elanna and turned to face the captain.

"What is the meaning of this, captain?" she asked B'elanna. "You are allowing your subordinate to talk to me. This is highly irregular. Did you fail to read the introduction to the third volume of series four of our sacred annals that we do not speak to the subordinates of alien cultures unless absolutely necessary?"

She paused as though she was waiting for a very, very good reason for this violation to their cultural practices.

Janeway had, in fact, not read that particular work. Apparently the computer subroutine she'd used to generate a convenient list of the most important parts of the sacred annals didn't consider it relevant, either. She'd had mild regrets about cheating on the reading, but who had time to read an entire library of not-so-stimulating information in the space of a week? She subtly prodded B'Elanna in the back, hoping the engineer could think of a good response.

This was not good. Diplomacy wasn't one of Torres's strong points. She swallowed hard and stared back at the hidious looking alien. "My apologies. The is no good excuse for such a... violation. It will not happen again, you have my word. Now I need just a few minutes to prepare myself. Is that alright?"

"You mean to tell me you're not yet prepared?" she said, losing her patience over this irregularity and seeming indifference on the part of the captain.

"No, no!" B'Elanna answered, trying to stay calm. "I just need to take care of a small issue here and then I will come right over."

"Well," the alien said with a small huff, "in light of my own tardiness, I will grant you ten of your minutes to 'take care of your small issue'. Prime Minister Crh'DfhoPssT out."

And with that, the viewscreen went blank.

B'Elanna loked around the bridge. Everyone was staring at her. "As you were," she said, looking at everyone in the eye. Turning to Janeway, she smiled slightly. "Let's go take care of that small trouble now, Lt. Torres."
