It was Monday on Voyager. Not that days of the week mattered much in the Delta Quadrant, but it had that Monday-ish feel to it. It was only 8:30 in the morning, and Janeway had already had five cups of coffee, six if you counted those two half-cups before she left her quarters for the bridge, and only Chakotay's raised eyebrows stopped her from heading to her ready room to replicate a seventh. "The Doctor will kill you, if the caffeine doesn't do it first," he murmured confidentially. This provoked half a smile. "You know better than anyone that seven cups a day is normal for me." "At this rate, you're going to hit seven gallons by lunchtime." He had a point. Reluctantly, Janeway settled back in her chair, glancing around the bridge as she did so. Tuvok was conferring with Baxter and Cohen about something, probably a very Monday-ish report. Harry had that glazed look that sometimes came over him when nothing noteworthy had appeared on sensors for a while. Tom was quietly humming while B'Elanna leaned over his shoulder, pointing at something on his console. Whether the helmsman was paying attention to his wife's words or her perfume was anybody's guess. According to a half-read report sitting on the center console, Lt. Rezit was working with Ensign DiCaprio and Crewman Messina on improving the long-range sensors' power usage. A very normal Monday it was. Janeway picked up the report to finish reading it, while Chakotay wandered toward the operations station. "Ensign," he greeted Harry. "Anything... SHOWING ON SENSOOOOOOOOOORS?" Everything froze on the bridge, and no one looked more surprised than Commander Chakotay at the fact that his last sentence had been uttered much like an opera singer. |

Instinctively, Harry brandished his tricorder and pointed it at the commander and broke out in song in response. (to the tune of "What's On Your Mind" by Information Society) "I wanna know (beat) (beat) Why you're singing (beat) (beat) There is noooo-thing On my scans (beat) (beat)," Perplexed, he pointed the blinking device towards himself, his eyes bulging out of their sockets and continued, "I wanna know (beat) (beat) Why I'm singing (beat) (beat) Nooooow I just want to dance! (beat) (beat)" |

OOC: Theme song. IC: Directer Baxter steps to the podium, lifts the baton, and gives the beat. *Bugle Call* *Bass Chamber* *Bugle Call* *Bass Chamber, bass chamber, bass chamber, bass chamber* "Someone, come save the Voyager. Yes come and save, come save us now. Get us back at home. Someone come save the Voyager. Yes come and save, come save us now, today." *Bridge to chorus* "Someone please help the Voyager. Please come and help, please help us now, today. Come save us now. Someone come save us now." |

Janeway willed somebody to give her an explanation as the theme music played over the comm system, presumably all over the ship. Since when had Voyager had a theme song? "Ensign? Can you find anything wrong with the COMMAAAAAAANDER?" Eyes wide, she clapped a hand over her mouth, as if further singing might burst out of its own accord. |

B'Elanna had stopped talking to her husband about their plans for that night when all the singing started. She stared at the captain. "What's going on on on! what's going on the bridge right now!?! Why am I singing this song, when I don't even know how?" |

(While Tom watches tv) Torres: It was pretty boring, until Ensign Farley started snoring and then no one could keep a straight face. Of course, the Doctor wasn't at all amused. Paris: Oo! Hockey! Torres: It was a shame that we had to cut the lecture short, but the warp core overloaded and then the Borg invaded and we were all assimilated. Paris: Ah ha. Torres: You haven't heard a single thing I've said, have you? | |

Janeway stared back at B'Elanna, unable to stop her reply from coming out in song. "You aren't just singing, you're singing in verse! This almost sounds like it's been rehearsed!" |

Oh my captain! My captain! This is quite a strange thing to do. Maybe we should sing a duet or two? |

As if waiting for the word "duet", music started to play over the comm system. The orchestral accompaniment sounded ominously as though singers were supposed to start in at any moment. Janeway glared in the general direction of the ceiling, as if it were somehow the speakers' fault. When it didn't stop, she felt compelled to try to regain control of the situation, and instead succeeded only at making it worse. (To the tune of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star"... feel free to join in!) "Voyager, mute music please! Or just make the program freeze!" |

Janeway found herself growing increasingly frustrated. Why couldn't she just speak normally? However, she needed to get B'Elanna working on a solution, and apparently the only way to do that was to sing to her. "Torres, get a grip right now! Tell me why or tell me how We can't help but sing along With this repetitive song?" |

B'Elanna wasn't happy with the captain's tune. It wasn't her fault she was singing! I do not know why We broke out in song! But I don't think it's the engines that did something wrong! Maybe an alien far out in space, or some rare illness might be the case! Either way it's not my fault at all! My throats starting to hurt, let's give the Doc a call! |

That was the most sensible suggestion anyone had made. Granted, nobody had really made any suggestions yet, but it was still a good idea. There just remained one problem. Who was going to be the one to call sickbay and sing the problem to the Doctor? |

Her throat was really hurting and if no one else was going to get the Doc, B'Elabna would. Pressing her comm badge she sang Torres to the Doctor, I need some help! All I can do is sing, not talk, shout or yelp! The whole bridge is tweeting like little birds in the sky. And my throats really hurting, if I wasn't half Klingon I would cry! |
