ooc: As you all know, I don't really know the techno babble of how the ship runs. So, work with me! bic: B'Elanna began to lead the aliens around, pointed out the different officers and explaining the work. The room was abuzz as everyone worked together, trying hard to impress the guests. The hum of the warp core added the perfect music to the room. |

(While Tom watches tv) Torres: It was pretty boring, until Ensign Farley started snoring and then no one could keep a straight face. Of course, the Doctor wasn't at all amused. Paris: Oo! Hockey! Torres: It was a shame that we had to cut the lecture short, but the warp core overloaded and then the Borg invaded and we were all assimilated. Paris: Ah ha. Torres: You haven't heard a single thing I've said, have you? | |

ooc: Very well, random technobabble it is! Chaim looked around and turned to Ens. Vorik. "Ensign, I need you to transfer power to the tritium tri-asymmetrical manipulator in order to inverse the tachyon beam generator." He then turned to Lt. Carey. "Would you mind configuring a differential magnetomer in order to monitor the appropriate cortex molecular ion pumps?" |

"As you can see," B'Elanna continued, pointed to Chaim, "we have our own set of conductors. I myself, as well as a few chosen officers lead the rest of the team as they all work. With the help of the "conductor" we are able to get each job done quickly and peacefully." |

ooc: Lol, technobabble win, Chaim! ic: NPC Aliens Though the aliens didn't speak out loud, they obviously shared some sort of conversation about B'Elanna's explanation. There was much head-nodding and ear-wagging and facial-expression...ing going on, and from the looks of things, their singing guests were impressed. The conductor nodded approvingly. "Your harmonies are impressive. I especially like the counter-rhythm juxtaposed against the mechanical melody. Please, show us more." |

B'Elanna smiled. Her team of engineers had worked beautifully once again. "Lt. Rezit, I'll leave you here to finish the calibration.: She mamde sure her eyes met Chaim's. Silently she passed on the wordless message. Praise them for their incredible work. She then turned to the guests. "I will now take you to our bridge. It is the command center of the ship and where all the musicless melodies run smoothly together." |

NPC Aliens "Will we be able to hear this lovely oscillating bass line there?" one of the aliens in the back called out as the group moved to follow B'Elanna. |

Rezit looked up. "If you're referring to the warp core, I'm afraid not, although the residual vibrations will be able to be felt until you're some distance from this chamber." |

NPC Aliens The group obediently trotted after B'Elanna, though most of their ears drooped as they left engineering. The conductor walked somewhat ahead of the rest in order to speak with their guide. "Lieutenant Torres," he began, "We have never seen harmonies such as this before. We have given the gift of song to many, but never have they shown us that they have their own music." |

"May I ask a question that might seem slightly rude," B'Elanna asked, slowly. She didn't want to step on any toes, but at the same time she wanted to know one thing. |

"You make beautiful music, and its wonderful that you have given that gift to others. But, sir, have you ever stopped to listen to the music and harmony of others. If we hadn't offered to show you our harmony, you would have never heard or seen it." She smiled at the conductor. "I'm glad that we offered to show you our music. Maybe you should try to listen to the other races out here. You can learn a ton from all of them." ooc: I have no idea how this story is suppose to be going. I love it, and think the story has been really great. |

ooc: I have no idea where it's going either, but I'm glad you're enjoying it. Feel free to interject plot ideas! ic: NPC Conductor The conductor considered this for a moment, while the rest of the group, having apparently overheard B'Elanna telepathically, wiggled their ears at each other meaningfully. "We cannot grant everyone the chance to share their music with us," the conductor finally said, "even if they all had music in the first place." |

"But you do give them all your gift, even if they don't want it." B'Elanna snapped back before gasping. "Sorry. I didn't mean to be insulting." |

Chaim internally rolled his eyes- one of these years she'd learn when to speak- and when not to! |
