"I understand. May I have Lt. Rezit lead you to the transporters?" |
|
(While Tom watches tv) Torres: It was pretty boring, until Ensign Farley started snoring and then no one could keep a straight face. Of course, the Doctor wasn't at all amused. Paris: Oo! Hockey! Torres: It was a shame that we had to cut the lecture short, but the warp core overloaded and then the Borg invaded and we were all assimilated. Paris: Ah ha. Torres: You haven't heard a single thing I've said, have you?

NPC Second "I will stay here," asserted the Second conductor. The Conductor was about to protest, but a glance out the window at the alien ship looming there convinced him that time was of the essence. "Very well." |

"Right this way, if you please," Chaim motioned to the remaining group, leading the way to the transporter room. Personally he wasn't very comfortable leaving a hot-headed B'Elanna with an obviously dissatisfied second, but he didn't want to make things worse by arguing with her and causing her to blow up on him as well. |

ooc: I love how on this site, I'm seen as this crazy Klingon with a temper that will blow at any moment. bic: Gesturing at one of the many chairs, B'Elanna waited for the Second Conductor to take a seat. She then sat in one as well. "You don't like me much, do you?" |

NPC Conductor The Conductor and his entourage followed Chaim toward the transporters. "I hope our visit has not caused discord in your own harmonies," the Conductor said. NPC Second The Second reluctantly sat down facing B'Elanna, his long ears swaying as he considered his response. "You are correct," he finally admitted. "I do not. You have caused our first discord in centuries. While we may once have acknowledged discord as music, it is not pleasing to the ear." |

"Sometimes the hard things aren't pleasant," B'Elanna countered back. "I mentioned before that many of our crewmen play instruments. When they are learning how to play, the sound that comes from their quarters are often painful. However, they don't give up because it isn't pleasant. Its the painful journey that makes the final music so amazing." |

NPC Second The Second inclined his ears politely, if curtly. "It is for this reason that I will follow the Conductor's choice to trust you. He may be right that it will lead us to better harmonies with other species." |

"I'm glad to hear that," B'Elanna sighed. "Can you tell me why the idea bothers you so much?" |

ooc: @Rose- yeah, we've kind of stereotyped the main characters on here, but that's ok ![]() BIC: He turned towards the conductor as they walked down the hall. "Oh, I wouldn't worry about that. Part of being human is dealing with constant discord. That scene we showed you in engineering didn't just start off like that, it took us many years of working together to achieve the state we now have. Why, in the beginning, we were two different crews who barely trusted each other, although you wouldn't guess that by looking at us now. No," he shook his head and glanced towards his companion, "my current concern is discord with this other species. We do not have a standing relationship with them (ooc: unless we do and I should edit this?) and I hope our discord does not lead to violence." |

ooc: No, you're correct Chaim, it's a new species. ic: NPC Conductor The Conductor's ears stood up sharply. "How violent do you think they may become?" The entourage began bobbing their heads at one another as they conversed telepathically. NPC Second "Our music is what defines us as a people. Our gift has been our only interaction with the rest of the galaxy for many decades. This is who we are. It bothers me for the same reason you would be bothered if you could never repair an engine again." |

ooc: @Phantom- alright, thanks. @Rose- ooooh, I wish I were in your place, I have the perfect retort for you right now ![]() BIC: "I don't know, that's what bothers me. We've never met them before so we have no way of knowing what type of civilization they have. For all we know singing is punishable by death in their society, or it may be the most beautiful thing in the world- we just can't be sure. Also, music isn't just played in our society, it's enjoyed by others. Have you ever given thought to giving performances for others to enjoy without causing them to sing as well?" He stopped short of using the word 'force' so as to keep the current conversation civil. |

OOC: And then there are OCs like you and I chaim, who had created (sort of) our own little Stereotypes. I'd be curious to learn how you all would stereotype my character? |
![]() Kryslynn DiCaprio Race: Half Kirian, Half Human Kirians The Kirian Race is a species I created. They're from the M Class Planet, Rianika and have an extra marker in the blood known as Luminol, giving off a glow. Kirians are also Neophasic. They can pass through solid objects except for dense metals or biomatter. Adrenaline in the system nullifies that rule.

ooc: It wasn't the most amazing thing in the world, but I sent it. BIC: Chaim shook his head. "I appreciate that but that wasn't my meaning. I just meant that you can never know the consequences of an action such as your gift. Just like there was no way you could know about my belief there are myriads of other reasons why people may not be fully... receptive to it." |
