(Tune: Where, oh where, did my little dog go)

How, oh how, do we stop this singing
How do we stop it today
Our throats are hurting, and our faces are red
There has to be a way.
(While Tom watches tv)
Torres: It was pretty boring, until Ensign Farley started snoring and then no one could keep a straight face. Of course, the Doctor wasn't at all amused.
Paris: Oo! Hockey!
Torres: It was a shame that we had to cut the lecture short, but the warp core overloaded and then the Borg invaded and we were all assimilated.
Paris: Ah ha.
Torres: You haven't heard a single thing I've said, have you?

The EMH began running tests on the flurry of crewmen coming into sickbay singing and just for good measure ran a diagnostic of his own program as well.

(to the tune of "Defying Gravity" from Wicked)

Something has changed my program
Something is not the same
I'm starting to believe
We're victims of some alien game.

He scooped up a hypospray and pressed the device against Ensign Calhoun's neck.

I will try and suppress your
Neurotransmitter levels
It might just be enough to
Lo'er your decibels....

The ensign sat up in his biobed to inform the hologram he'll give it a shot.

(same tune, "Defying Gravity, Wicked)

I think I'll try defying this travesty
But I can't seem to defy this travesty
Please give me strength defying this travesty
Before I lose my miiiiiiiiiiiind!

This was getting ridiculous, but at least they had a lead.

(also to the tune of "Defying Gravity"; Glinda's line ;) )

"Hurry and take us toward
the signal B'Elanna found!"

Not knowing what the crew were singing on the bridge, the EMH continued to the same tune.

(same tune, "Defying Gravity"; 3rd stanza)

"IIIIIIIIII'm through with all this singing,
'Coz someone made it so,
Some cure has got to work,
But 'til I try I'll never know!"

He wasn't sure which of his various antidotes to suppress the axon-dendrite junctions of the nervous system, so he figured he would try them all or take a chance.

"Too late for second-guessing,
Too late for a new hypospray
It's time to trust my instincts:
Close my eyes, and praaaaaaay...."

A small dose of another antidote was released into Culhan. Hiss.

Krys looked up with relief as the music tapered down and seemed to stop, now was her chance to give Lt. Torres the latest report. She walked up quickly, held up the PADD and opened her mouth to speak. Horror crossed her face as the music revved back up with orchestral finesse.
(Same song, so fun to write to xD)
(Beginning at "So if you care to find me...")
"So if you care to find it, scan the system end to end
As sensor readings make it, it needs a transmi-itter to send!
And if we find the beacon, perhaps we'll find the key
To ending all the singing and solving this mystery.

(Switching to "Tell them how I'm defying gravity")
The signal's riiiising in intensityyy
It's flying hiigh and gaaaaiining density.
That system has to be scanned now.
And nobody on this great boat
Will have to sing another note
We'll get that signal out.... Foooooor gooooooood!!"

The music continues in a mellifluous crescendo but Krys dropped out breathing heavily, eyes like saucers, traumatized by the discovery of her own voice. It was nothing to compare with the Doc's but it was a smooth alto, slighty higher than normal, but pleasant. She stares bewildered at the lieutenant and mouthed "oh my gosh" in time with the music of course.

OOC: Tada

Kirians
The Kirian Race is a species I created. They're from the M Class Planet,
Rianika and have an extra marker in the blood known as Luminol,
giving off a glow. Kirians are also Neophasic. They can
pass through solid objects except for dense metals or
biomatter. Adrenaline in the system nullifies that rule.

ooc: I love this song so very much. Perfect choice of a spot to have Krys sing her first notes, too! :)

B'Elanna stared at Krys with her mouth wide open. "Wow. Why haven't I heard you sing before, Ensign? You have an amazing voice?"

Krys was still in shock, finally she managed to respond. "I, well, I haven't sung since I was, oh maybe 9 or 10. I've had some very bad experiences and I just never sang until just now...." Her voice trailed off and she found herself staring somewhat distractedly at the pulsing blue of the warp core.

Harry clutched at his neck. He didn't think he would be able to survive another round of singing, his throat was parched!

"Approaching the star system, captain," Harry said dutifully. "It's a tertiary star system with 3 gas giants and 7 planetoids orbiting its suns. Time to reach the outermost planetoid: 6 hours, 30 minutes at current course and speed."

---6 hours, 30 minutes, and 85 songs later---

Finally they were in sensor range of the planetary system. Another song began to play over the comm, and Janeway rushed to give her order before the singing part started. "Scan for lifesigns!"

bic: (Tune of Data's Life Forms Song) ooc: Actually it is he's song.

Life forms.
You tiny little life forms!
You precious little life forms!
