"What about the locals? We are still with them, they are just kids."
"So... I lied. I cheated. I bribed men to cover the crimes of other men. I am an accessory to murder. But the most damning thing of all... I think I can live with it. And if I had to do it all over again, I would. Garak was right about one thing, a guilty conscience is a small price to pay for the safety of the Alpha Quadrant. So I will learn to live with it. Because I can live with it. I can live with it... Computer, erase that entire personal log."

That complicated things. It was a clear violation of the prime directive to transport her people up in front of the locals, but Janeway considered it anyway. It certainly wouldn't be the first time she ignored the rules.

NPC Gero and Hoagie
"You're too late!" Gero cackled. "It's here!"

A small ship, about the size of the Delta Flyer, dove down on them out of the atmosphere. Unlike the Delta Flyer, though, it was armed to the teeth. Six torpedo launchers hung from each of the wings, and two full phaser banks adorned the top and bottom of the cockpit.

"Goodbye, Federations," said Gero. "Firing now!" His thumb pressed a button on the remote.

His aim was terrible. The first torpedo impacted on a group of boulders about ten meters in front of the group, sending a spray of dirt and rubble into the air and obscuring his targets from sight. He swore. "Stupid precision weaponry!" He hit the button to fire again.

"Get us out of here! They are firing!" David shouted.

Krys skidded to a halt with the kids stumbling and panting behind her. She saw Gero push the button and back peddled, pulling back and wincing as the spray of rock and rubble sliced across her exposed skin. She heard David's frantic request and hugged Renalia and Pordin, pressing their faces into the front of her jacket. "Daki, come here!" She said, and wrapped her arm around him as well, shifting Renalia to the inside.

She knelt down with the three kids huddling around her, trying to block as much as possible.

The less they see, the better. There's still gotta be some way to explain this without breaking the Prime Directive.

Kirians
The Kirian Race is a species I created. They're from the M Class Planet,
Rianika and have an extra marker in the blood known as Luminol,
giving off a glow. Kirians are also Neophasic. They can
pass through solid objects except for dense metals or
biomatter. Adrenaline in the system nullifies that rule.

:comm: Energizing! :comm:

The familiar blue beam engulfed the away team just as the torpedo launched toward them. They missed the ensuing explosion, the trees and cave replaced by the walls of the transporter room.

Huddled beneath Krys, Daki yelled, "That was AMAZING!"

Krys rolled her eyes and couldn't help but chuckle at Daki's excitement.

Well, there goes that theory

David looked at Krys and muttered "Can you handle the kids?" He then walked off the transporter pad and hit his commbadge. "We are all here. Their ship, that small attack shuttle, and the people who attacked us are still out there." He paused, and lowered his voice "What should we do about the kids? Krys seems to be able to connect with them and they are somewhat familiar with me." he gave another pause looking back on the pad. Torres, Krys, Larson, Harry, Hishamori, and the three kids. Including himself 9 people. "You know you managed to get nine people on one transporter pad. Also I'll come to the bridge if you want."

"You know you managed to get nine people on one transporter pad."
ooc: Haha, oops. Good catch, David!

ic: :comm: Have Ensign DiCaprio stay with our visitors, but keep them in the transporter room. :comm: Having made the decision, Janeway now needed to figure out what to do about it. :comm: We'll keep scanning for the ship, but it may have some sort of cloak, since we didn't detect it before. Step outside into the corridor; I'll meet you there. :comm:

NPC Kids
Daki was still talking. "And then she went 'whoosh' and disappeared, and Renalia disappeared, and then I was like, 'You can't stop BrightStar!' and then..."

"I still don't like it," grumbled Pordin.

Renalia tore her face away from Krys's shoulder. "What happened? Did you..." She looked around. "Where are we?"

OCC: Thanks.
BIC: David motioned to Krys to come over to him. "Stay with the kids. If they ask questions, well make something up. They never taught us this stuff at the Academy and you know them. Tell Torres, Larson, Harry, Hishamori to follow me." She nodded and told the others who followed him out to met the Captain.

Krys nodded once to acknowledge and sat down on the edge of the transporter pad. She patted the ledge, encouraging the kids to sit down next to her. "I'll tell you later, but for now we're safe. I promise." She looked each of them in the eye, mentally wracking her brain for ways to keep them occupied and distract them from the oddities going on around them. In a split second, she fixed on a plan.

"I want each of you to tell me about yourselves. How old you are. What your lives are like. Everything. Project it if you can. Be creative! M'kay?"

Janeway met the group outside of the transporter room. "What exactly happened down there?" she asked David.

NPC Kids
"Okay!" Daki said, then abruptly turned as the rest of the group left the room. "Hey, where are they going?"

Renalia sighed. "Daki, shut up and follow directions!" She looked at Krys with an exasperated expression. "Daki's my younger brother. He's eleven. I'm thirteen, and Pordin is fourteen. He's our neighbor."

"This is my seventh time entering the Sun Journey contest," Pordin said. "Renalia has been practicing recording for the last year, though, and she's getting really good at it, so we think we can win this year." He looked at her. "By the way, did you record all of that in the cave?"

She rolled her eyes. "Of course."

"Good." He nodded seriously. "It doesn't fit with the original story, but I think this is better. We can say those two were agents of Singularity."

"We went down and were looking for dilithium. As we got farther into the caves, we ran into some local kids. We improvised a story about how we were there for the same reason they were, to make a movie for some movie festival. However we were a family. The kids have some shape shifting abilities. They were able to mimic Lt. Torres's ridges. We also found out that on the other side of the caves there was a city. After some talking, we decided to join up with the kids in a 'joint movie project'. It was then we also found out that the kids also have some sort of projection abilities. One projected a Starfleet officer using this mental power. The image was just as clear as a hologram. The story for the movie was similar to Tom's Captain Proton." He paused trying to recall the details of it. "It was of a person called 'Brightstar the Sunwalker' who had a ship that could go anywhere and he had to fight a villain called 'Singularity' who was building a base on the third moon. Brightstar had to destroy it. Tom would have loved it. Anyway Harry discreetly tried to contact you but we couldn't get a signal through the caves so he started to go back out to the entrance of the cave to try to contact you again. Torres went after him shortly after to make sure nothing happened. Now this is where it gets even more complicated During that time Harry and Torres started to hear footsteps. They were bounty hunters and Harry managed to get through to us with the commbadge. Trough more improv we managed to convince the kids that our tricorders were just props for the movie, once we detected the bounty hunters we started to move the kids deeper into the caves. Harry and Torres also overheard the bounty hunters taking about us. Specifically they knew about our transporter, out commbadges, how to jam both, and our name 'Federations' We were contacted by Torres who told us that. I sent some security back to reach Harry and Torres, where they encountered the bounty hunters who wore phaser resistant armor. Everyone eventually managed to get back together. The kids then began projecting images to fight the bounty hunters. We then tried to collapse that part of the cave in, so we could take down the bounty hunter's force fields. It didn't work. Krys managed to get one of the kids to safety by phasing while Torres and I rigged out tricorders to our commbadges in hopes of breaking through the jamming signal. During all of this, two of the kids escaped and tried to fight the bounty hunters, still thinking they were projections even though we told them they weren't so we had to go after them. I have to say those kids did some good, using their projection abilities to confuse the hunters. They then fled. That is when they mentioned torpedoes. Then we contacted you. There are more details but they will be in my full report. We didn't leave any of our technology down there that was salvageable. To cause a cave in we overloaded a few phasers which were destroyed, so not all of the Prime Directive was violated. Also one of the kids was injured when a bounty hunter attacked him." He finished. He looked at the others and then ran his hands through his hair. Dust and bits of rock covered them all and some fell on the carpet. "Sorry about the mess." He got serious again. "Captain the ship that attacked us was heavily armed. Torpedoes and phaser cannons. There has to be a larger ship for them out here. Possibly hiding near one of the moons. I managed to get some scans of the bounty hunter's armor and of their attack ship. Permission to go to the bridge to help get these guys. They attacked my team, put innocent kids in danger, and forced us to violate the Prime Directive."

OOC: Hmmm, I wonder if the bridge will need the sensor power of a more advanced region of the ship for this... *hint hint* :P

ooc: Wow, nice summary, Dave!

Kidda, heads up toward the end of the post! ;)

ic: Janeway sighed. "Permission denied, I'm afraid, Ensign. Voyager's power reserves are dangerously low. We have to find a way to get that dilithium before we'll be able to sengage them. Instead, I'd like you to take a team on the Delta Flyer and see if you can find out anything else about the people who attacked you. I'll have the science teams work on a way to solve our power problem without breaking the Prime Directive any worse than we already have." Seeing that David was displeased with the situation, she put a hand on his shoulder. "It wasn't your fault, Lieutenant. You did everything you could."

Astrometrics had received the order to begin scanning the planet for a fleeing ship as soon as the away team had beamed back to Voyager.

OCC: Thanks. Also it is Lt. ;)

BIC:

He smiled a bit, glanced over the rest of the away team, then back at the Captain. "Thanks. Is Tom available to pilot the Flyer? I figure we may have to deal with some evasive flying if we run into our friends and we aren't 100% sure what the moons are like. Plus he has medical training. As for the rest of the team, I'll take Robinson from engineering, Montero and Gunther from science if you can spare them, and Harry if he is up to it."
