Team Building in VC is not that different from a regular team building, but is always important to remember:
1. The lever restriction
Yes with the Pokemon eing restricted to lv 30 you can't use all of the fully evolved forms, also in some cases you won't be able to use all the avaible moves, Gallade for example loses Close Combat.
2. Speed Tiers
The diference in stats is minimal, some Pokemon may outspeed othr by a mere 2 or 3 points of speed, knowing that diference can help you to decide what you require to outspeed or how many Speed you should invest on your Pokemon, check the article abotu Speed Tiers Here
3. The mixed tiers
VC is a metagame for lower tiers so all Smogon OU and Uber are banned, but all BL and under are used, having that huge amount of Pokemon makes the team building possibilities very wide.

Now to begin with the team building you should get some ideas first right? feel free to check the analysis section by clicking here.

Now I'll show an example of teambuilding explaining my moset successful team by far (But very important: This team was built before Alakazam got banned so please don't point out Alakazam, I'm aware in fact I was one of the ones that voted in favor of banning it)

So usually every team starts by choosing one Pokemon and going from there, I usually like to begin with the lead so lets do that.

For the Lead I needed something fast that was able to Taunt opposing Leads and setting Stealth Rocks so the classic Suicide Lead Aerodactyl came to my mind.

So now I need a pokemon that can sweep, fast and easy so I went for Alakazam here.

Now I need something to sponge hits, but also to support Alakazam something that could assist it, and a healer came to a mind so Wish was a need, and a Pokemon with such move and that also is incredibly bulky is Eviolite Chansey.

Ok now I have a need for another physical attacker since Aerodactyl is a Suicide Lead, also I want something fast and a hard hitter, not to mention I want a viable counter against set up Pokemon, here is were Choice Banded Weavile fills all those roles serving as a late game sweeper, Revenge Killer, anti Set up Pokemon with Punishment and my only counter against another Alakazam.

Now to much offense a little defense would be great and Weavile adds a Fire weakness I need to beat, also a Phazer wouldn't be bad, how about something that absorbs status for my sweepers and can inflict them? Milotic sounds like a good option, Bulky, has Dragon Tail with Marvel Scale I'll be absorbing status like nothing and can heal them up with rest while keeping the Defence boost, Scald adds to the mix to Burn and kill fire types.

My last pokemon needs to be a hard hitter, physical if possible and with a set up move, bulky also since I already got 3 frail but fast sweepers, also a fighting type, throh was my pick, good Bulk, can use guts if the opponent try to cripple it with status, has Bulk Up and good moves to use, also I don't have to worry that much about healing since Chansey takes care of that.

And this is the final product:

Aerodactyl (M) @ Focus Sash
Trait: Unnerve
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd

Excellent Lead, 2 deathly sweepers backed up by 3 bulky pokemon 1 being able to heal them from both damage and status, one Phazer with Scald to burn opponents, a Set Up attacker with Guts to boost even more on status users, 1 revenge killer with Trapping and Set Up killing capabilities, a general sponge which is Chansey and a main threath in the form of Substitue using Alakzam, all of this in one single team.

Now is your turn, build you own team and begin enjoying the Vulcan Cup, remeber you can post you finished product in our Rate My Team thread so other people can help you improve it.
