I actually remember catching a few episodes of this show! I bought a NES just so I could play the NES version of the game. To this day, I don't know what fixated me on the game, but I still play it. Anyway, there was this small poster of some sort that came with it, and there was an ad for the TV show on it. Well, the show was nothing like the game, but I enjoyed those precious few times I remembered when it was on.

Holy hell! I remember that poster! And I caught an episode of Maniac Mansion once. My first thought was "Where the hell are the tentacles?", followed by "Why isn't Dr. Fred blue?". But this was one of the first times I saw a cable show, so it was a magical moment in my young life.
I so freaking love Maniac Mansion (the game). I remember when I was a kid, when I first saw a picture of it in a Sears catalog. Sandy (the damsel in distress) was in the same room with the Green Tentacle. I knew then and there I had to have that game! All sorts of stories were playing in my little head (and this was long before I heard about nuking the hamster)! And then, I found it. One look at the cover, at the back of the box, and I was so in love! And on a sidenote, I finally figured out how to get the stamps to stick to the envelope, getting the "Meteor gets arrested by Meteor Police on TV show" ending I've longed for for so long. A little anti-climactic, but I finally did it. Personally, though, I think my fleeting attempt at creating a Meteor Police comic (I freakin' love those guys!) was a lot cooler. The evil murderous purple slimy Meteor gets away...somehow (swear to God, I had the frickin' rock jump out a window, for some reason! A sentient meteorite jumping out the window of a recording studio, which is most likely just part of the stage scenery!), and the Meteor Police give chase! Yeah, wasn't that well planned...but man, it would make an awesome platformer!

-Tabris, wonders is "Blue Guy Alien" and "Mammal Pilot Alien" had names

Wish I had more time to wax nostalgic over this:

GAWD, I loved Maniac Mansion on the NES! I grew up with that beauty! They don't make games like this anymore, sadly.
