I watched 30 Days last night, because I do so enjoy a good tain wreck. Now, my friends...it was about a Cuban immigrant who is against illegal immigration. Wow. Am I the only one who is apalled by the sheer willingness to abandon ethics to uphold the law? It seems like I hear that so much nowadays. "The law is good, the law is great! The law tells us what to think! The law tells us what is absolutely right and wrong!" Sweet lord, the man spoke madness. He spoke so ill of the government, yet he's the one who preaches about laws and so scorns revolution. What is this madness we call "patriotism"? It seems like nothing more than xenophobia and an unjustified sense of superiority dressed up in a pretty lie. It's grossly ironic that immigration is such an issue. This is a nation of immigrants and explotation. Illegal immigrants do work that no one else wants to do. What's that tell you about the nation's work ethic? So...we're a nation of laws. If you're not one of us, to Hell with you. If you are one of us, then bend to our collective will or go away and rot. They always say America's this great blend of all these different cultures...but honestly, why are we lying? |
