Oh, big surprise. Racism in the South. Yet another reason why I have to question our glorious country's greatness. So...let's take a lookie-loo:

On Thursday, old-guard lions like the Revs. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton joined scores of college students bused in from across the nation who said they wanted to make a stand for racial equality just as their parents did in the 1950s and '60s.

Okay, well...maybe I was being a little pessimistic. Sure, there's racism, but it's a good thing when people don't stand for that sort of crap!

But while those early protesters dodged police batons and were insulted by the white population, demonstrators on Thursday petted police horses, chatted with officers and posed by the Jena Police Department sign.

...Hold on...

"It was a big event for us," said Donna Clark, who traveled from Atlanta with her husband and four young daughters. "We got matching T-shirts and drove all night. It's exciting and I think the girls can say later they were part of history."

...Uh...

Law enforcement officials said the biggest problem was the heat.

...Um...

"It's been a very peaceful and happy crowd," said Sgt. Julie Lewis of the Louisiana State Police. "Really these are very, very nice people. They are welcome in Louisiana any time."

Okay! Hold the fuck up! This looks like a parody of the civil rights protests of the Sixties, doesn't it? Well, maybe that's because it is. This is in protest of six black kids not getting away with attempted murder because the victim was white. Well, hey, some people should be more equal than others, huh?
Oh, and I should probably point out that this was from a serious news article. Swear to fucking God in mother fucking Heaven, some dumbass bitch brought her kiddies along and got matching t-shirts. Well, yeah, lady. You are a part of history; The fall of reason and the beginning of the collapse of Western civilization.

(as history teacher in the future) And it was about when civil rights demonstrations were turned into picnic outings for the whole family that Western Civilization started to crumble.
Lord, beer me strength.
