Now, before all else: USE THIS WIKI if you need Raildex references. This is an RP based on that series, so might as well. Here's the signups/forms post. ~Plot~ Academy City- a place where science is free to expand and develop, where the technology has improved by leaps and bounds... And the development of 'espers'. Students flock to the city in order to become 'espers', who have the ability to use supernatural abilities to manipulate the world. Academy City's primary focus is on espers, and thus schools in the city take pride in producing the'strongest' Level 5 espers. To this day, the city strives to make further breakthroughs in the development of these espers. At the same time, the magicians of the Churches across the world are handling their own matters. These magicians, stemming back from ages past, have shown their interest in Academy City. While most are content with watching the city grow, there are a few curious enough to infiltrate the city and see how it is for themselves. Science does not yet know of the existence of 'Magic', but the events set forth by this chain of events could very well change Academy City (and the world) forever. ~Setting~
Here's a map for reference and a page for more info: Spoiler: click to toggle The school where many of the students involved in the RP is the Higashikata complex, which is a joint middle and high school. Located in District 7 (near the border of it and District 15), the complex is relatively large, with five floors, two outdoor fields and an outdoor pool. On the first floor, there are two wings- an east and a west wing, wherein the first and second-grade middle schoolers take their classes. On the second floor, there is the cafeteria and the classroom for the middle school third graders and the high school freshmen take their classes. On the third, the library and the next two grades; on the fourth, the cafeteria and the senior classes (and a few storage rooms). The fifth floor is half taken up by a library and the other half by a science lab (wherein experiments are conducted). The larger field is in the back of the school, along with a large pool nearby. The dorms are roughly five minutes away, separated into a male and female dorm (which are on opposite sides of the street). They are more or less apartment complexes that allow two students to share a room; each dorm has two separate rooms with two futons (one in each), a living room, a kitchen and a bathroom. They're pretty barren otherwise unless the students wish to alter it themselves. Note: Here's a sketch of the school uniform for the spring/summer. The winter version has longer sleeves for both versions and a longer skirt (up to a little over knee-length) for the girls. A flash of anger showed on Ringo’s face as Torame looked away from him to Hizashi. Ringo pulled his hand back and thought “ohh you sob. Well MEH TO YOU TO!” But of course, as he thought that the sour look faded quickly into a fake smile. However, Ringo stomach made a rumble, reminding him that he had not eaten for 37 hours and 28 minutes! It cleared his mind of all hate he had for Torame at the moment. Ringo waited for Hizashi and Torame to finish their talk then, asking “Hey, is there anywhere one can get fresh bite to eat around here Ummm Mr…. Paulownia???? Ringo thinking “ya that sounds good” “OOC this is me trying to meet up with Roy in the garden as he is the only room mate i can have” |

Surprised at the lack of investigators at the scene of a crime (not so subtle vandalism), Rosanna picks up her parasol and heads off to find her dorm, limping along from her previous adventures. She comes across a map of the city displayed on a screen in the middle of a square. “Okay, so I’m here, so-” she says as she points her finger at her current location, when suddenly another screen pops up where she touched. “Wait, go back!” She exclaims as she presses other areas on the screen, each touch bringing up another menu. Nearly five minutes pass before she decides to give up all hope of figuring this machine out. Deciding to seek out human help, Rosanna enters a store across from the now malfunctioning map. DVDs, figurines, and other ‘collectables’ line the shelves. This must be an ‘anime’ shop. She thinks as she walks over to the front desk. She stops on the way as one particular ‘anime’ catches her eye. The cover has a female character holding a sword in a defensive stance in the foreground, as well as several other characters and monsters in the background. I don’t have any particular interest in anime, but I suppose it could make for some good cultural investigation. Besides, it would be rude to ask a favour and not buy anything. She carries the DVD over to the counter. “I’ll take this.” she says in a cold tone. “And tell me where the Higashikata girl’s dorm is.” After paying for her new ‘investigative material’, Rosanna heads towards the dorm, following the rough map that she had the clerk draw for her. I think I can make dorm arrangements at the dorm. If not, I’m sure Shuuki would prepare everything on her end. Edited by Wolfmaw, Oct 8 2014, 01:32 AM.

Showers stood out from the usual appearance of things. Shuuki always found one could tell alot about a place by the contrast of their back rooms to those shown to the public more openly. A plain and messy background with disorder all around was only complete with an equal messy washroom. Shuuki causally pulled the water from her blouse as if it were nothing. Looking around her it was apparent the rooms were well cared for. Walls sparkled bright white and not a single towel was out of place. Clearly, this city had many secerts, and so did this school. Having witnessed the sheer chaos and lack of preparedness, Shuuki grinned a toothy smirk at her confident discovery. She couldn't prove it...yet, but with the attempt to hold an orderly appearence clearly blown away by their immediate actions...logically flaws reared their head. At least it was quiet in the facade of purity. She straightened out the blouse. Sadly, the tie and collar were left with a permanant off white, but all was well. Now it was time to inverstigate her magical companions...or enemies. Shuuki cracked open the stall door, taking in a full view of the girl's washroom carefully. She almost wished she could pick locks just to see what students left behind. Harusaki boredly passed down the hall, having to actually distract herself with thoughts her own. The empty halls gave some semblance of what learning was like. No one was here by choice...unless they were like Harusaki. Bewildering was the idea that humans were simply built as they were. Espers, and the random distribution of their potentials defied all human constants. Clearly there could not have been some random variable to decide whether one could throw fireballs or teleport. The brain's design was all in the construction, the nurturing of neurons. Her family, the one Harusaki had so long ago abandoned, accepted chance and how the world worked. Even the cruel, unfavorable parts. They believed a God would simply give them grace by being its dog. Just by hoping, praying, some chance of finding food would be increased. Chance was a loaded game. It did not suit her to leave everything to the whim of some outside force. Knowledge was not granted, merely obtained. That is precisely why Harusaki left home to pursue science. She didn't want to wait for chance, when she could have certainty. But, even still, chance had a funny way of teasing her. In a crossway intersection, far off into the bisecting hall, a glimmer of bright colors caught Harusaki's eye. Someone slipped by with a piece of cloth, or hat held in hand, like a clown's cap. Harusaki leaned and stomped a foot without realizing it, planting herself in place to watch as the figure faded from view. "Huh?" That was all she could muster to sound, having forgotten her path and walking for a split second. |

Is this Felix kid really that unusual? Akio didn't quite understand why a power that nullify others would be so odd. Surely there had to be other people with the same talent. Still, anything that Harusaki finds interesting Akio couldn't help but also ponder. "Huh?" Akio suddenly heard Harusaki mutter. Akio then realized that he was walking alone. He turned to find Harusaki stopped in an intersection facing down another hallway. "What's wrong?" After a few moments of silence, Akio took her hand and started leading her down the hall they were headed down initially. "Come on, let's hurry and get this over with. These tests really bug me." After another minute of walking, the pair reached the site of the system scans ((if there's a better way to describe this location please tell me)). "Alright, I'm here. Sorry to keep you all waiting" Akio announced in a loud voice. ((IS THAT SUFFICIENT OSCAR?)) |

((More than enough! :D)) Hizashi smiled as the two other espers made their way down; the school seemed to be a pretty nice place, especially seeing as how it was his first day here and he had already made a few new acquaintances. But that didn't mean he could get complacent, of course; just because he was abnormal didn't mean he had time to slack off. He was behind on the curriculum by an incredibly large margin compared to everyone else, which meant he had to get to learning as soon as he got to a dorm room with Akio. Though he had committed a decent amount of the standardized curriculum to memory by reading the textbooks which his brother so graciously supplied him to use, it was still simply that- memorization and nothing more. He needed to understand the material, which was a lot easier said than done. That being said, it's not like his new ability didn't help expedite that process. He could perform experiments without the need of machinery, which to him was almost a miracle in and of itself. Such equipment was usually unwieldy, and he certainly wouldn't want to inconvenience his roommate so soon after his arrival. Gripping his luggage firmly in hand, Hizashi followed Akio as he went off with Harusaki for his System Scan. As he left, Torame looked at the green-haired boy in slight irritation. He wasn't doing anything wrong per se, but the way he acted was just... Annoying. But then again, he was used to having to work with students of all types, so it wouldn't drive him to the edge as it would have him in his younger years. "The cafeteria's currently off limits, but there is a vending machine near the school garden over there." he stated, pointing to a small building that seemed to be made of tinted glass. "It's a bit strange looking, but that building doubles as a greenhouse so you shouldn't worry about it too much." -------- As Shuuki left the washroom, a girl looking to be about 15 years old accidentally bumped into her. The impact had caused the girl's glasses to fall to the floor and the girl herself to step back in shock. The small machine she had been holding (and supposedly looking at) fell out of her hands, but luckily enough a strap that hung around her right wrist had kept it from incurring any damage. "Oh, I'm so sorry!" the girl said frantically before apologizing to Shuuki, her light brown hair extending past her hips as she bowed down. "I'm sorry, but I need to find my glasses..." The girl slowly moved closer to the ground and began to look across the floor of the washroom in hopes of finding her glasses. -------- Hizashi walked alongside Akio and Harusaki as they reached their destination, a small portion of the field sectioned off for Akio. His power was a bit abnormal by the school's standards, it seemed; the equipment the staff had set up here looked vastly different from the standard machinery he had seen here and there. One of the staff members immediately took Akio and, separating him from Harusaki, moved him to one end of the field before placing a small earpiece on his right ear. "Alright, Akio. I need you to discern these espers from the crowd that's here at school. Direction and distance are mandated; if possible, state if there are multiple people with the same ability and find a way to differentiate between them." the person said, handing a sheet of paper to the boy. "...Oh, this isn't going to end well, now is it...?" Hizashi said, looking around at the crowd. That negation person had really put them in a bind now, whether he wanted to or not. |

"I swear I just saw..." Harusaki was cut off by Akio as they entered the system scan room. Quickly the girl's mouth clamped shut as Akio, her friend, was set up for the usual tests. But today was turning out anything but usual... The same could be said for those tests, if Akio's powers remained disabled any longer. Having her own thoughts to herself meant Harusaki was off like a bullet train. She didn't even react to the others as the tests began. She seemed absorbed by thought. Of course Felix's power was strange. Instead of his own resonating AIM Field, he had to have something else that cancelled out the fields generated by others. In short, the boy had something....different. Harusaki knew he was a level zero. His AIM fields were weak at best, so assuming this Nullification Field was AIM based didn't make sense. Was it some kind of magic? <No, magic doesn't exist, that's something your sister would think.> Harusaki held a thousand yard stare out toward the bustling yard of fresh students, unusual in the fact that she was holding a silent conversation, with herself. <Could that have been...her?> Shuuki shook her head, ears ringing from the impact. Some clumsy girl was in a hurry. First noodles, now this. Didn't any of these sheep know how to walk? Shuuki found herself painfully on her rear, listening to the girl frantically apolagize. That wasn't her main concern however, as the moment Shuuki adjusted her now bruised rump, a sickening crunch rang out in the doorway. Before, the shock and momentum had kept her from feeling it.... Awkwardly, Shuuki replied, "I think I just found your glasses." |

Yuessss! At last Ringo had found what really mattered, not the mission, not the answers of life, not understanding the new school at all but, the garden and the free food! screw the vending machine, it was probably just another piece of junk that wants to beep and boop at him like everything else at technoland. sure it was neat at first but, after a quick shock he found it annoying now. However, A plant with fruit, that is something Ringo could never be mad at. Ringo yelling “Thank you Mr Paulownia I will head down there right away!” Spinning around on 1 ankle then started down the hallway to the garden. As he gets to the garden he pushes open both or doors saying “Hello food! i am here” However the light from his face quickly fades as he sees the garden only has bonsai trees in it. He slowly moops up the the vending machine. The vending machine says “Hello and welcome to the Vendertron 5000! Please pick the item you most desire!” Ringo looks at the buttons and thinks “bah this yellow and purple thing looks almost edible.” As he receives his item from Vendertron 5000! and of course it comes in an unopenable package. He spins around trying to open his food without destroying it in the package. Thinking “Oh Oh that is how it is going to be huh? Mr I Can’t be opened. we will just see about that!” Well since we are in Japan i guess there is only one thing to do! Ringo calmly places his hand on the Vendertron 5000! to seek out some iron or steel from it to make a wakizashi. As he analyzes the metals with in the Vendertron 5000! with magical sensory he becomes acutely aware that this “simple” vending machine to him is actually a metalworking masterpiece. Thinking it’s 30, no 50, maybe even 70 years ahead of anything I’ve seen before. Even the basic frame that should have been made out of pot iron was made out of rolled steel, and there were even metals he had never seen before in this thing. At last he finally began to understand why he had been sent here. Thinking ”If this is what a mere food barrel had, what would the top end items have?” As Ringo snaps out of his spaced out state, he spots a person holding a shovel just sitting there. (new character w00t!) With the end of this year's system scan, Kazuo walks towards the school building, a slight glow about him. Literally, he was glowing. It was a part of his AIM diffusion field, leaving a hint about his current mood. He's quite proud of himself with his improvement over the last few years, having reached level 2 from his previous status as a level 1. Now that he was free, he feels as if he should find Sokoyami-senpai, as he hasn't seen her ever since she ran inside the school building. Pulling up his Judgment armband he approaches the building. Spotting an Anti-Skill member he recognises as Mr. Torame is standing outside the building, likely to keep students out. Not that he was doing a very good job: Kazuo spotted not only Sokoyami-senpai, but another girl he didn't recognise enter the building as well. As a member of Judgement, it was his duty to escort the two runaways back to where they're supposed to be. When Kazuo reaches the building, Mr. Torame stops Kazuo. "Ah. Mizushima..." His brow furrows in annoyance. "I'm terribly sorry, but the school building is off limits untill the System Scan is completely finished. Unless, of course, you have some reason to be here." The glow surrounding Kazuo dissapears. "As it happens, I'm here as a member of Judgment. Please, let me through." As usual, Kazuo's voice was completely deadpan, his face as expressionless as ever. This was clearly unsettling Mr. Torame, as he was now avoiding eye-contact. "Really now? And what reason does Judgment have to intrude on the researchers inside?" "I've spotted two unauthorized students enter this building: Sokoyami-senpai and another girl I've never seen before. I'm here to escort them out." "I see... If that's the case, head on in then. Be sure to be quick about it though." "Yes, sir." Kazuo can't help but feel as if Torame agreed so readily just to be rid of him. He seemed particularily stressed today, and "dealing" with me is probably the last thing he wanted right now. As Kazuo was searching for Sokoyami-senpai, he came across a seemingly unused classroom. However, there were sounds coming from the room. Something was moving in there. Now, if this were an anime, he'd barge in to find a half-naked girl before him. However, he isn't that dense, and decides to knock on the door. (that's your que Aussie) Edited by Wolfmaw, Feb 25 2015, 08:36 PM.

"H-Hello?" A girl peeks around the corner of the now open door. She was neither a researcher nor was she partaking in any experiments in this empty classroom, so Kazuo is sure that this girl was one of the 'unauthorized personnel' that had entered the school. She seems like the kind of person who's easily intimidated. His unreadable expression and deadpan voice may cause some friction between the two of them. This might be troublesome. A slight shadow casts over Kazuo as he thinks this. Regardless, he has a job, and he must see it through. "Mizushima Kazuo, from Judgement. The main building is off limits due to the system scan and some delecate research taking place within this building. I would like you to come with me for a bit so I can lead you out." |
