Now, before all else: USE THIS WIKI if you need Raildex references. This is an RP based on that series, so might as well. Here's the signups/forms post. ~Plot~ Academy City- a place where science is free to expand and develop, where the technology has improved by leaps and bounds... And the development of 'espers'. Students flock to the city in order to become 'espers', who have the ability to use supernatural abilities to manipulate the world. Academy City's primary focus is on espers, and thus schools in the city take pride in producing the'strongest' Level 5 espers. To this day, the city strives to make further breakthroughs in the development of these espers. At the same time, the magicians of the Churches across the world are handling their own matters. These magicians, stemming back from ages past, have shown their interest in Academy City. While most are content with watching the city grow, there are a few curious enough to infiltrate the city and see how it is for themselves. Science does not yet know of the existence of 'Magic', but the events set forth by this chain of events could very well change Academy City (and the world) forever. ~Setting~
Here's a map for reference and a page for more info: Spoiler: click to toggle The school where many of the students involved in the RP is the Higashikata complex, which is a joint middle and high school. Located in District 7 (near the border of it and District 15), the complex is relatively large, with five floors, two outdoor fields and an outdoor pool. On the first floor, there are two wings- an east and a west wing, wherein the first and second-grade middle schoolers take their classes. On the second floor, there is the cafeteria and the classroom for the middle school third graders and the high school freshmen take their classes. On the third, the library and the next two grades; on the fourth, the cafeteria and the senior classes (and a few storage rooms). The fifth floor is half taken up by a library and the other half by a science lab (wherein experiments are conducted). The larger field is in the back of the school, along with a large pool nearby. The dorms are roughly five minutes away, separated into a male and female dorm (which are on opposite sides of the street). They are more or less apartment complexes that allow two students to share a room; each dorm has two separate rooms with two futons (one in each), a living room, a kitchen and a bathroom. They're pretty barren otherwise unless the students wish to alter it themselves. Note: Here's a sketch of the school uniform for the spring/summer. The winter version has longer sleeves for both versions and a longer skirt (up to a little over knee-length) for the girls. Alright, a simple enough task, Akio thought to himself. But as he closed his eyes to focus he failed to feel the sensations from his ability. .......Of course, that Felix guy's negation. Akio hadn't considered just how long his power negation effect could last. "Akio, is something the matter?" the staff member said with a confused look. Akio quickly ran through the possible options in his head. He could lie and attempt to buy time for the negation to wear off, but he had no way of knowing how much longer it would last. He decided the best course of action would be to tell the truth. After all, as strange as it was, the school had to know about Felix's power. Surely they could simply reschedule the System Scan. "Oh, um, nothing's really wrong. I just ran into someone who ended up disabling my power temporarily with his. You guys know about him, right? I think his name was Felix?" |

The staff member looked at Akio and let out a sigh of exasperation. "Of course that's the case... Fine, then. Though I fail to see the reason behind your actions..." he trailed off before shaking his head, not wanting to inquire further. "We cannot, however, reschedule your Scan. As a result, you will remain the same as you were last time. At the same time, however, your funding will be reduced to that of a Level Two until the next scan, scheduled to take place three months from now. Hopefully, you don't mistake the same mistake twice; I'd hate to see you living purely off of instant noodles and water." A small laugh escaped the man's lips before marking something down on the screen in front of him before motioning for the group to move along. He had other things to do, after all, and Akio was, in the end, one student among many. Hizashi looked at Akio before shrugging, unsure of how to help his roommate with the issue. Since the students were paid merely for being in the city (or so he head), getting a pay cut probably meant that he would have to end up chipping in for meals more often for a while. Darn. There go the plans of picking up that fancy equipment he had been wanting to buy for the last few days. "Well... Sucks, I guess. Nothing to be done about it." Hizashi said, patting Akio on the back before turning to the dorm registration desk a little bit away. "You think we should finish up here for now and grab a bite to eat? I'm starving." -------- The color quickly drained from the girl's face as Shuuki unceremoniously 'found' her glasses, which were now nothing more than pieces of broken glass and scrap metal. The girl remained speechless for a moment or two, but that didn't last very long. What seemed to be more pressing, though, was the abnormal chill in the air around the girl. Though the facility the two were in was kept cool through a system of ventilation ducts, this chill mas much, MUCH colder than that. The short, pained breaths of the girl only seemed to exacerbate the cold, as the glass on the mirrors began to rapidly frost over from the sudden drop in temperature. "N-no... M-my..." the girl trailed off, trying to carefully move towards a small red box with a cross on it on the other side of the bathroom before slipping on a patch of newly-formed ice and falling to the ground. "I-inside..." |

Shuuki reacted swiftly. How painful, honestly. The poor girl hadn't the least grip on her abilities. She sighed and noted the first aid she was after. Must be a reoccurring problem...pity. From her pouch, the magician swiped four cards, marked with the ancient suit of swords. Nothing too flashy now, make it look like an Esper ability. With this in mind, Shuuki quietly sung her prayer, ignoring the bitter cold. Before long, the swords on her cards glowed, and she lept, slapping them to her feet while water materialized around them. As she predicted, the water would form into ice very quickly, and circulating it around the sole of her shoe meant the thick set cards were frozen stuck, if a tad gingerly. Carefully, now, she glided, humming to herself. Swiping that first aid was her priority. Even if the lock was stuck, enough water in the cracks and then ice! Shuuki wasn't a scientist, but she did know water had this magnificent way of expanding when freezing. Once the box clicked open she slid over to the girl, scooping up her shoulders and shaking her. "Little sheep, I am your shepherd. And so help me wake up, or this place will freeze us all!" Once the staff member set out a "punishment" for Akio, Harusaki interrupted, breaking past a stumbling start. "Wait! I can vouge for Akio's ability. It was working fine as normal before we met up with Felix. I didn't tell him I was doing extra cleaning in the school, and Akio found me anyway, easy like any other day!" The static in her head started to fade. Emotions, a tinge of anger at how unfair this was sprang up and piledrove through the block. Not that it was a heavy one at this point. She could hear everyone in the room, and without thinking, she tugged partially on the staf's mind, clouding his thoughts for a moment. Her green eyed stare fixated sternly at him. Of course, Harusaki never intended to mes with the man's head, but attachments often got in the way of calm. |

The staff member's eyes faded out of focus momentarily before he shook his head. Regardless of what the girl was saying, protocol was protocol- Wait, wasn't that...? The staff member took a moment to realize that the girl in front of him was one of the Level Fives of the city, and the school's to boot. No wonder his consciousness had momentarily faded in and out at that moment... But for her to attempt to use her powers on him was still... "Regardless of that fact, Ms. Kawazu, we have thousands of students studying at this school. It is unfair to allow one student to get a free pass here, especially given that he was late in the first place. If we let this misdemeanor go unpunished, then what does that mean for the rest of the students at our school?" he asked, staring at the Level 5 with marginal irritation. "Speaking of misdemeanors, I'd highly recommend you not try that again. Using your abilities on school grounds without proper supervision is prohibited, after all." With that said, the man quickly walked back to the crowd of students in order to evaluate the next esper on his list. -------- The girl's eyes opened slightly as Shuuki shook her and weakly pointed at a small machine inside the box. It seemed slightly out of place compared to all the medicines and the bandages and whatnot inside, but, as with all things, it had a reason to be there. With that motion, the girl passed out, now fully unconscious. The cold only seemed to grow worse by the minute, though, and the room, now almost completely covered in ice, looked more like glass than the metal and porcelain it was actually built from. |
