Phase 1b new base build up (15th July 2008)

Current Build: 1b
Current patch: 1 (upgrades to 1c)

Phase 2 elements not yet done: balance tweaking, bm buildings, unit cards, sprites, and videos, unit descriptions and minor visual and most textual elements (and video).

Still to do on phase I:

* quotations - Palantir 50% DONE
* ancs & traits - Aradan ALMOST DONE
* unit descriptions - Antagonist
* Scandinavia mapwork - Uranos
* unit cards - Uranos

Please delete your old VI2 folder. This build has been cleaned and is smaller than the previous build. Again, after install, please copy the BI items folder into your bi/vi2/data folder.

Unzip and copy the vi2 folder over your vi2 folder ;)

Update: Phase 1 B basic build is up (see post above).

Please post errors in this thread (not from incomplete elements like bldg descriptions please):

* valley blocked around 110, 134 should probably allow access westward
* Thanet needs reshaping a bit and separation from mainland by sea
* The Weald needs putting on map

Could somebody post a pic of faction selection screen? - as on my PC VI2 icons are too big and they cross/share their edges with other icons (the rebel icon has normal size) - i would post a pic but my print screens are all blank :blink: - i had it many times but always forget how to fix that :rolleyes:

Erm...I left them like that from the AoVaF settings because they look different and good like that! The rebel icon is for testing purposes only and is the smaller vanilla size.

Great, thorough and copious work done swiftly yet again Aradan. Just a note: I have commented out the need for East Engle (Elmham) as a requirement to gain the King of Wessex trait - my error.

I am working on non-modding related stuff this week and next in the main, but still hope to have the building descriptions finished, as well as the historical events, event title & strings all done by some time next week in my "spare" time.

Ah, so Elmham should not be there? But then it has to be removed from the King of England trait as well. Will take care of that.

Holiday week coming, but I'll try to do some modding in my "free" time as well. ;)

I think bishops should only be available to the non-Viking factions. I'm not 100% sure how to deal with the Viking conversion yet - certainly allowing them to build both religious "temples" seems right. As I said before the first known Viking leader to become a Christian convert was in 878 so bishops could be activated after that turn (turn 56) - as with the christian trait of course (as prviosuly discussed).

Thoughts?

Perfectly doable, I will see to it. Christian conversion and bishops will be available to Vikings only after 878 - bishops will be more rare too, if you like. Also, given that diplomats only have 1 chance to get a princess/bishop, I think I'll increase their chances to 50 percent in the triggers, it feels better that way - if that's ok with you.

And of course 878 can be an "event" year, that will let the player know about this conversion...

Patch 1 is up (see Opening Post)!

Work may now begin on the listed items (which involves all of us at this stage :) )

Thx again for everyone's help in fasttracking this mod!

I've renamed the build 1b to stop confusion - so we are still on phase 1 and phase 2 will be balancing etc.

Played a bit and i was owndering how do you plan to solve the viking's invasions - heven't seen any during about 70 turns, even danish unit's in England got back to their ships and waited on them.

Have not even thought about that yet mechanism yet.

I did put one of the Danish armies on the east coast of England - but he tends to jump on a boat and sail off back home. lol.

I'm sure I'll think of something ;)
