Espionagesaboteur was at the borders. She was alone- but she wasn't worried. There was no reason to be worried. It was a nice day, sunbathing in the light… And there wasn't a cloud in the sky. This wasn't the type of day that would end horribly for her. Hell, anyone who crossed claws with her would find themselves aching. She wasn't a fool, and while her mood was relaxed hr claws where unsheathed. Borders weren't the safest place to be.

Screw mother. Screw the nursery. Screw his siblings. Screw Riverclan. He was out of there.

That's right, a deep tom's voice whispered. Seethe. Fuel your anger, let it drive you out of that waterlogged pit. The spotted tabby's tom ear twitched with annoyance. Did they ever shut up? His paws made loud crunching noises as he hurried through the fresh blanket of snow. He was in a hurry, racing further and further from the camp, further away from the nursery, and best of all, further away from that twit Spottedspot. She was so doting on him, her voice was similar to that of a squeak from a mouse. It was unbearable. But even on a chilly afternoon in the middle of Leafbare, the sun was out and shining brightly. It warmed his dark fur, but when he exhaled he could still see his breath.

Look at those messy tracks! Cried another voice shrilly. Smaller than any warrior's by far, too small even for an apprentice! A patrol will pick you up, no doubt! That is, if an eagle doesn't get you first. Ungh, Pride. Gaara rolled his eyes and continued bounding through the glistening white wonderland. The river was in sight, it was covered with a thin layer of ice. Not surprising, it was below freezing now.

The masculine voice from before let out a booming laughter. I think even the eagles would leave this little pathetic scrap alone, he purred. Pretty soon Gaara heard footsteps next to him. It was a large brown tabby tom. Wrath. Of course, no one else could see him but Gaara, but he didn't understand why. Couldn't people plainly see what was right in front of their faces? The four moon old kit had tried explaining it to Spottedspot several times, but she would just let out a giggle like a tinkling bell and murmur, "Oh Patchedkit, such a cute little dear. What an adorable imagination!" Pah, imagination! That vixen had no insight. That... that... trollop!

Distracted by his own disgusted thoughts, Gaara had continued walking forward, his paw touched the ice. It chilled the pads of his feet to the touch. He took another step. And another, still pondering how he would kill Spottedspot when he was older. The ice began to crackle. He paid no mind. One more step, then a second.

Espionagesaboteur woke up a little at hearing the crackling sound of ice. She eyed the kit uncertainly, then figured she might as well help him out. At this time of day there was no doubt that a patrol would be coming sooner than later. She had gotten the beat down on the order of them quite clearly. One had to, as a cat of her nature. Even if she hadn't yet used it to actually do something. The knowledge did stop her from doing something. "Lie down and spread your weight kid, then push over there." She had done some darker deeds in the past, but she wasn't reckless.

She pointed her paw back to Riverclan. She had never seen the kit herself, but if he wasn't recognizable then he wasn't supposed to be here. Though… Espionagesaboteur thought for a moment. A bit of a motherly appearance would suit her well in the future. "Or over here, if you want." She added in a kinder tone.

The spreading out on the ice had a reason behind it, more area covering the ice meant less force on the fragile surface to crack it. Physics had just been crushed into common sense. Yew one, world zero.

Do I kill her in her sleep, or wait until I'm bigger and slowly maul her to death like a bear with madness sickness? Madness sickness. He had overheard about it during that huge chunk of time he was stuck in the medicine den. Stupid sickness. Madness sickness-- where cats foamed at the mouth, got a weird look in their eyes and just went crazy. He smirked at the thought of Spottedspot falling to that. A voice snapped him out of his macabre fantasies. Telling him to lay down. What? Wha...

Lay down, stupid! A feminine voice snapped. Gaara's head slowly turned to the left, a pink and white cat was sitting down on the ice next to him, licking her paw. Lust. She stopped cleaning herself but kept her paw elevated. She unsheathed her claws and pointed down at the ice. "If you die, we die. Move." The spotted tabby tom looked up at the cat that had ordered him to lie down. Had she been there the whole time? Oh no, was she a Thunderclan warrior? His heart sunk with dread, clouded amber eyes wide. The only thing that could be worse than being caught by a Riverclan patrol or an eagle was an enemy clan. The humiliation. He was downwind from her, and could smell her. Was that was Thunderclan smelled like? He wouldn't know- he'd never smelled Thunderclan OR loner before. Swallowing hard, he obeyed, trembling like a leaf in the middle of a storm.

Gaara's first instinct was to go as far away from her as possible and run straight back to Riverclan. Ha, Pride sneered from behind him on Riverclan's side of the river bank, thinking of running away like a coward? I can see you shrinking back. Have you no dignity? Gaara's clouded eyes locked on the other cat, she had invited him over there, and her voice was so soft and welcoming... All of the sudden he felt something that he hadn't felt in a long time. He ached to trust her.

Getting caught by a rival clan cat isn't much better, Pride scoffed.

Pah, typical kits. Their young enough to still assume there's good in everyone, Wrath said, making a face.

Well, if he doesn't do something soon it's not gonna matter where he goes! Lust shrieked.

Gaara's heart raced. His mind reeled, and he pushed off towards the she-cat. His belly laying against the bone chilling ice, he scooted along towards her, slowly but surely, his three demons following close behind.

I don't like chilled children, I like them hot and bubbly. Lets eat him, lets do. Triage growled, hammering away restlessly inside Espionagesaboteur. So many people where in this thread, and yet neither of them knew it. Nine cats and two people. What a thing to go off of. Espionagesaboteur managed to keep a cap on Triage. Just a voice so far, which was good. Though… She hated to say… Triage could be rather convincing at times. Even if they were a brute. Winter was a hungry season, and Triage just kept on reminding her of how hungry she was.

The silver tabby padded towards the kit, noticing the scent of Riverclan on him. "What are you doing all the way out here? It's a dangerous place for kits, all the more during winter." Her tone was kind, not threatening at all. The danger, as far has this child knew, wasn't from her. There was too much of a risk of getting caught.

As if being the runt of the litter wasn't enough, Gaara was rather small and frail for one his age. Skin and bones. He had no fat on him to keep him warm, all he had was his short haired coat to protect him from the biting winter wind. But it was pressing his sensitive stomach, where his fur was especially thin and wispy, had the cold sunken into his bones and chilled him through and through. Without thinking Gaara snuggled up against the she-cat after she approached, nuzzling against her leg. Warmth. Warmth. Warmth. His body craved it, greedy for it's wonderful sensation.

"St-Stupid Sp-Spottedsp-spot," he spat out, his teeth chattering.

"That just winter's blessing's, or are you always that thin?" Espionagesaboteur asked conversationally, his bone thin ramshackle appearance reminding her of her father. She put a quite fluffy tail around him. She had quite enough warmth for him, seeing as she was a long haired cat. Her eyes narrowed at hearing Spottedspot's name. She faintly recalled the name. She was pretty sure the she-cat was an addled brained dolt. "What'd that dolt do?" She meowed. Had the tom-kit not been in such bad condition she really wouldn't give a damn. But things were as they are now.

Gaara's other companions had joined him, surrounding the she-cat.

She's cute, Lust purred, giving the adult cat a curious sniff.

You think everyone's cute, Wrath said tartly, rolling his eyes before settling himself on the ground.

I like her, Pride said, grinning his famous Cheshire grin. The way he smiled was so unnatural... Gaara shuddered.

"She won't believe me, about them," Gaara said, nodding at Wrath who sat right in front of them. "I can't believe she doesn't see them. It makes Wrath so angry. Lust doesn't really care... but Pride is offended by everything anyway." He refused to believe that he was the only one that could see them. The undersized Riverclan kit was certain that because he was in the worst condition that he had all the attention. She could see them, she just paid them no mind because their fur was thicker than his... Right?

"They?" She asked, looking around. She assumed that Pride, Lust, and Wraith were all loner named cats. "I don't see them." Espionage meowed, her named shorted for convince sake.

Gaara sighed. "You can't see them either..." he murmured. What a huge disappointment. Can anyone but me see them? the kit wondered. He lifted a small white paw and pointed straight ahead. "They're right there, don't you see? Lust has been nuzzling you for the past minute or so." He felt his heart rate quicken. The Riverclanner was frustrated. Why couldn't anyone see them? It just had to be a joke. Yeah, one big prank.

Clouded amber eyes drifted towards Pride, who was grinning ear to ear. Careful Gaara, he purred. Don't get so frustrated that you cry now. There's no glory in being a big baby.

Espionagesaboteur, though she knew no one was there, found herself glancing to her side nervously. Then she looked back to the kit. "There's no one there." She meowed, a suspicion crawling into her mind. This kit was a bit crazy. Seeing things that weren't there. But considering he was so young and seeing them- he must've been born like this. "There are others that can't see them as well." She meowed, getting that from his word choice of 'either.'

"No one sees them!" He found himself wailing, like a child throwing a fit. It was immature, but he didn't care.

How undignified, Pride scoffed.

Gaara ignored him. "Spottedspot doesn't see them either. She writes them off as imaginary friends. I don't need friends. They aren't my friends. They're..." He trailed off. Being young, Gaara's vocabulary, for now, was limited. He was looking for a word like someone who traveled with you, took place in your adventures. It started with a 'c'.

Espionagesaboteur found herself listening intently to the tom-kit as he started crying. Interesting fantasy he had there. She definitely believed he saw them, but they weren't real for sure. The she-cat licked her maw as an idea popped into her head. As a fantastic impressionist of voices and the ability to throw her voice around. Triage started laughing inside her, a sharp toothed grin for the genderless impulse in her head. Oh indeed… What she could do with this voice. She could be the voice that brought people down, confused them. Could. Though… What to use this for she didn't know. Espionagesaboteur was only in the habit of using her skills to ensure her survival. Though… While this blood eye flecked she-cat didn't have anything that endangered her… Triage was a damning and persuasive entity. A thought crossed her mind. This child might be like her. "Annoying pests that won't leave you alone?" She was speaking in theoretical terms, she didn't actually think his hallucinations were real.

"Something like that," Gaara sniffed. "I mean... I guess they aren't always annoying, just most of the time."

Aww, I'm touched, Wrath said sarcastically.

A realization struck Gaara. He looked up at her with wide, watery eyes. "How did you know?" whispered the kit.

Espionagesaboteur hadn't been really serious about that. She just let that slip out for fun. Him replying like this was twisting her stomach. But she wouldn't tell him. She had hidden Triage this long, she wouldn't risk revealing it to some kit. "Lucky guess." She lied.
