![]() The snowflakes were drifting lazily in the slight breeze that stirred in the Thunderclan camp. Honeyfern was taking shelter by the nursery, the scent of milk and the overall warmth of the den drawing her in. She sighed, listening to the deep breathing of the queens, or the high-pitched squealing of the kits. Today had been a nice day to far; Honeyfern had hunted with the dawn patrol, and had managed to bring back a few scrawny mice and shrew. Considering the weather, it was a major accomplishment. Right now, Honeyfern was just relaxing a little, drawing near a nap. |

Mottledheart's stomach was wide with kits. It made getting around a touch more difficult; yet, the queen had not been ready to retire to the nursery until a couple days ago. She was a couple days away from her due date, and found every day tasks to be challenging. But man was she bored. Getting to her paws, the heavily pregnant queen stepped from the den and stretched. |

Honeyfern's liquid amber eyes disappeared, as her eyelids fell shut over her tired eyes. She yawned, her tongue curving up to the roof of her mouth, sharp teeth exposed, before she smacked her lips together, lazily forcing her eyes open again. All of a sudden, as if out of nowhere, a queen stepped out of the nursery and stretched. Honeyfern wasn't blocking the entrance; just in case something like this happened, Honeyfern had decided to rest off to the side, where she could still hear everything inside, and still feel the warmth of the den from her position from outside. "Oh, good morning!" Honeyfern chirped, trying to make herself appear up-beat and energetic, even though she was tempted to slip into the den, curl up with some of the kits, and take a nice, long nap. Much to her dismay, Honeyfern forced herself to get up, and copied the queen's movements, stretching herself out, first her limbs, then arching her back. "How are you...?" Honeyfern trailed off, searching for the name of the queen. Edited by Cindey, Jan 4 2012, 10:00 PM.

With her front paws extended forward, the she-cat stretched luxuriously. First her shoulders were rolled, then she stretched out her back limbs. Feeling loose and limber, she turned toward the she-cat whom was speaking at her. "Hello there. Good morning to you," Mottledheart purred warmly. The she-cat then went on to ask how she was. "I'm doing well. Sick of being confined in the nursery already. I haven't even given birth yet," she mewed jokingly, with a twinkle in her eye. "How about yourself?" |

Honeyfern smiled down at the queen's belly. She could almost imagine the tiny life forms squirming within, just itching to get a taste of the real weird. Honeyfern remembered nothing of her kithood; her apprenticeship was more fresh in her mind, and overpowered the memories of being a kit. She knew they were still there, though. "I'm good, thank you." She meowed politely, dipping her head a little lower towards the ground. "Somewhat tired, actually. The nursery always makes me feel sleepy."

As if indicating she felt the same way, Mottledheart's maw stretched into a yawn. Embarrassed, she dipped her head to hide it, before glancing back up with a smile. "I guess I share your sentiment....oh," she murmured suddenly, feeling pains in her stomach. "Uhm...I think I'm kitting." |

Honeyfern smiled warmly, before her eyes slowly changed to panic, her eyes drifting toward the queen's stomach. "Your kitting? Oh! What should we do?!" She cried, frantically looking around. "We need the medicine cat! Now!" |

Panting, the she-cat nimbly padded into the nursery once again. It appeared she was want to receive some fresh air. Whether the warrior decided to follow after her not, was up to her. Mottledheart had things on her mind, but she was kind of frightened. It would be her first experience with this sort of thing. Sighing, she curled up in her nest, and the first kit swiftly slid into the world. It was a red mink kit; a beautiful tom. Mottledheart leaned forward, gently nipping the sac and cleaning him off. "Memorykit," she whispered. Soon another kit came. This one was lilac tortie sepia. She was just as gorgeous as her older brother. "This one will be...Paintedkit," she murmured, purring. Though quickly her purrs subsided and her face turned into a grimace of pain. A third kit was coming! It wasn't very long before a little female joined them. She was a seal smoke sable. "Chemicalkit." Finally, the last two kits were there in the world. The she-cat had them all cleaned up, and was exhausted; yet, she couldn't stop now. She had to name all of the kits before she would be able to rest. "Bearkit," she named the chocolate with white kit. And finally, "Crosskit." The last kit was a lilac mink tabby, just like his father. |

Honeyfern watched as the queen lumbered into the nursery. Curiously, the brown tabby she-cat followed the queen inside, just as the first kit popped into the world. Amazement flooded her eyes, as she watched, one after another, the kits slowly came into the new world, and their mother named them. After each one was born, Honeyfern looked up at the queen, then back down at the kit, trying to note some resemblance. She caught tiny hints here and there, but none of them were drastic. "They're beautiful." Honeyfern whispered quietly, eyes filled with awe and wonder. The kits were adorable. |

The chocolate calico lowered her head to her paws, giving a small sigh. Not of boredom or feelings of discontent, but rather of a relaxing matter. The kits were all born and appeared to be healthy, though a medicine cat would have the final say on the matter. For now, she was quite happy with her life. "Thank you," the queen responded, smiling brightly at the warrior. Did they share some sort of bond now that they had shared this experience together? -- Young Memorykit gave a squeal of discomfort as winter air struck his wet torso. Soon a rasping tongue was running across his body, bringing floods of relief and comfort to his small frame. Content, the kit crawled toward this mass of warmth, snuggling into it. Then he grasped a teat in his maw, suckling feverishly. Edited by Frostsoul, Jan 13 2012, 11:16 PM.

As soon as the cold hit him, Crosskit began to wail in agony. Why didn't he get all the attention? Why did all his older siblings have to steal the attention away? The tom-kit was not going to put up with it! The lilac mink tabby managed to drag his paw towards his mother's soft underbelly fur, and latch onto a teat. The cream, soft liquid trickled down his chin, splattering on his chin. Most of it managed to slip down his throat, and satisfy the hunger that gnawed at his small stomach. --- Honeyfern smiled softly, looking at each kit with love and adoration. |

OOC: Should we open the thread? Mottledheart nuzzled each of the kits, purring. They seemed to be healthy and strong, all beginning to suckle with gusto. |
