Lupinestrike awoke to the feeling of pain. Sheer pain! As if the harsh cold of leaf-bare was not enough! But alas, something- someone, had left a rose in the she-wolf's nest. Where could a rose be found in leaf-bare anyway?

She leapt up off the rose with a slight yelp and winced as a trickle of her blood hit the ground. What was this? The rose was red... Her blood was red... And she was the only wolf in the forest that was known to be a Warrior of the five Clans! Had some foolish cat left it here as a joke, to make her shed blood? Or was it an omen from the stars. StarClan only knows...

The wounds were only very small, puncture wounds, and would only need small treatment. Are shadow could quite easily take care of that... But, at present, that wasn't what she really cared about at all! More than anything else, she wanted to find out what this rose was doing here... And who left it.

The large shape of Mountainheights was silhouetted against the sun as she sat, ears back, on the cold, hard ground - for no particular reason apart from the fact she disliked sleeping with everyone in the den. She'd rather freeze than be cooped up in there.

Yawning, the long-haired, blue she-cat rose and stretched in a feline arc until her tail and legs quivered. It was then her hazel gaze fell upon Lupinestrike, who had blood on her side...what? Mountainheights shook herself out of her thoughts and warily padded over to her. "Is - are you alright?" She meowed tentatively, tilting her fluffy head.

The fluffy tail twitched, gray and inticing, and emerald eyes narrowed in watch, the large shadow shifting slightly behind the critter that dug futility in the thin, glittering crust of the gray morning snow. A squirrel away from the warmth of it's den in the dead of an frigid, ivory winter? Most uncommon, and though the tempting beast was scrawny, with it's bones outlined beneath it's coat, the squirrel would still make a fine meal for the clan. It's was oblivious to the warrior's presence, hidden in the scraggly, bare branches of a sleeping bush, and Shimmerstrike struck a barbed tongue across his jaws at such a gleam of luck in such a grim season.

He had to be careful, a silent predator in the cold twilight. His ginger laced pelt glowed against the sparkling snow, the golden sun seeping through naked trees to strike his pelt in vivid light. For now, the twilight mist masked the tabby brilliance in a shadow, but the ever shifting world would be quick to betray him if he didn't strike swiftly enough. The ThunderClanner tucked his ivory paws close and tensed hardened muscle that rippled beneath his pelt, and quickly judged the needed trajectory to reach his target. With a great push, the warrior sprung, the bush rattling at his sudden departier. The squirrel twisted in alarm, but it was to late. Claws sunk into it's flesh as teeth decended to clamp tightly around it's neck. With a small snap, it was over, and Shimmerstrike raised with his prize hung limply from his strong jaws. The clan would not starve today!

He returned to his hidden cache and dug a paw into the disturbed snow to reveal two small mice and a scrawny, but large white rabbit. He dropped the squirrel and shifted it around with a claw, then dragged the rabbit and tucked it close to the prey. He then managed to stuff the two within his jaws, by the squirrel's tail and the rabbit's ear. The two mice, he hooked with his claws and pressed them to his chest with a steady forepaw. No use making a second trip if it was possible to make one. When he was settled, Shimmerstrike limped back towards camp on three strong legs and hobbled inside after a laborious climb down the ravine. The camp wasn't very active, he could see, but there seemed to be a curious commotion near the warriors den.

Shimmerstrike dropped his freshkill on the low pile and examined it with a small light of triumph for a moment before turning back towards the den with pricked ears. The large wolf seemed to be disturbed by something, but the warrior could not see what, whereas Mountainheights had already seemed to have found the problem. The tabby flicker his tail in greetings to the two and approached with a meow. "Something wrong?" He questioned, peering around the other warrior at the canine. He thought he smelled blood, but he couldn't be sure.

Lupinestrike sighed and looked at the two Warriors, golden eyes blazing. She knew Shimmerstrike from a patrol she lead once. "Some cat has left a rose in my nest as a joke, and I'm not very happy about it!" She half snarled.
