The marbled tabby made a low grumbling sound as she stood up, keeping her one damaged leg off of the ground. Laurelpaw sourly limped over to the medicine den and forced herself to ignore about the rabbit she had so forcefully abandoned. Keen eyes suddenly became wary as she reached the entryway of the medicine den. "W-Wrenshadow",She mewed warily into the gloomy darkness. Well, actually it was pretty bright. But it felt that way to her.

Sighing, she limped into the den. If you want somethin', gotta do it yourself, She thought as she looked around for the medicine cat. Her ears were pricked and sharp as she swiftly moved her form around. She jumped back as she saw it. A small piece of wolf fur. Just hanging there off of one of the herbs. Turning around, the apprentice then saw all the blood spattered over the area of the den. She hunkered down to the ground, letting the saltiness of the tears flow into the inky red darkness. But when she opened her eyes, she saw there was mud on her paws.

Whipping her head up, she came back into reality. A warm, bright den stood outreached in front of her. Quite ashamed of herself Laurelpaw hopped up from the ground. No, her past could not get to her anymore. "Wrenny",She called a little boldly. The she-cat cringed at the thought of the medicine cat hearing that. But know she was starting to doubt herself. Did that lame apprentice seriously just pull a trick on her. Ohh . . . Oh he was gonna get it. Turning around, she let her eyes glower. And then . . .

She saw it. The faint light of the "backyard" type area of the medicine den. And the only place she didn't check. Shaking her head in awe of her stupidity, the apprentice quickly limped her way over there. Poking her head out, she realized he could very well be in here. Besides, she kind of liked it back out here. It was camp, yet it was always quiet. The lusterous aura that almost never came to cats like her. "Wrenshadow",She called out softly.

ooc } I love the post! Also, how exactly is Laurel lame? I've probably read it somewhere, but I just cannot seem to remember.

Wrenshadow gave a sigh, his tail tip twitching as he lounged in the backyard area of the medicine den. For the first time since his mentor disappeared, it seemed, he could relax. The lush grass around him was undisturbed, and rather springy: no cats other than himself and a few others actually came over here. It was the edge of the camp, and it was widely known that this was where Wrenshadow went to get peace.

Speaking of peace, he rarely got that now. Since his mentor, Fadedepiphany dissapeared, and the coming of leaf-bare, he had been scuttling around like a squirrel gathering nuts. It was not a fun process, and once again the sole medicine cat of ThunderClan pondered the desicion of medicine cat apprentice. Many medicine cats, he knew, did not choose an apprentice until they were older, and had seasons of experience. They weren't freshly made medicine cats who didn't even have a single leaf-bare of experience. He was completely fresh, without a mentor, and not at all sure that he would do the right things for the Clan as it hurtled towards the cold months.

But he wouldn't be able to do that alone, he knew it. There were so many young cats that were interested in becoming his apprentice, but to be honest, only one had caught his eye. It was Laurelpaw, the lame apprentice. She was very mature, and didn't bother him constantly about becoming his apprentice. As well as that, he was almost completely sure that she would uphold the medicine cat code, and not take a mate as so many other medicine cats have done in the other Clans. He wished for ThunderClan to remain loyal and strong with StarClan.

A mw interrupted his train of thoughts, and the tom's ears swiveled as he turned toward the sound. It was faint, and held a wary tone that made the tom tip his head. He was pretty sure he knew who the voice belonged to, but he still waited for a response. He got none. As he was about to rise in search of the apprentice, Laurelpaw's voice came again, in the nickname the young she-cat had seemed to be taken into calling him. A small smile twisted Wrenshadow's lips as he stood, waiting for the marbled tabby to make her way over to where he was.

As her head poked out of his den, he dipped his own head. "I'm right here, Laurelpaw," he mewed softly, and his tail gestured beside him. "Come sit with me, I would like to talk with you." He was going to gather his courage, and ask the loyal cat if she would like to become ThunderClan's next medicine cat.

{mobile. And it was from a back written rogue group she was a part of.

Laurelpaw nodded and stepped out of the den, letting the warmth of the sun beat down on her marbled pelt. Slowly she winded her way down to the seemingly softer area of grass where the medicine cat was waiting. It Felt good to have nothing for her leg to scrape against besides the fluffiness of the grass.

Slowly she sat down besides the Tom in her awkward way and let her tail curl around herself naturally. "So what is it",she mewed quietly. Her tail tip twitched as she paused in the silence to look at the beautiful garden of the medicine den.

ooc } whoops. I thought I posted. I'm sorry!

Wrenshadow watched the young she-cat as she sat, and his did the same, his short brown tabby pelt glinting a golden light in the sun. His eyes we rather focused as he once more inspected Laurelpaw, feeling a rush of assurance that made him feel all the more sure about his decision. He looked away from Laurelpaw and took a deep breath.

"I was wondering if you would wish to be my apprentice. Leaf-bare is coming on, and I will not be able to be the lone medicine cat, especially with this being my first leaf-bare. I have had many young kits who seemed eager to be my apprentice, but they show only the fascination of a kit, whereas you show the loyalty and determination needed to become a medicine cat of ThunderClan. Will you accept this?"

Her eyes darkened at the thought that he would even mention that. She stood up quite swiftly, swinging her leg back behind her. How dare he even ask her that question? It was foolish and just downright selfish to ask someone like her. She just hung around because she had to. Because her damn leg was-

Oh yes. That. Looking down, the apprentice stopped pacing and stared at her limp leg. Sighing, she turned to the medicine cat with saddened eyes. Her lip quivered as she shook her head and turned her back to him. What else was there for her here? She could not serve this clan in any other way. Or at least, that was what she had expected. Sighing, she let the wind ruffle her marbled cur as she cast her gaze onto the medicine cat. "I would be honored to get to work alongside you, Wrenshadow. Thank you for the offer",she mewed softly.

Wrenshadow's eyes met her saddened ones, and he felt a pang of sorrow. He had chosen this path, whereas she pretty much had no choice. His tabby fur rustled in the wind as he saw the lip of the apprentice quiver, and he winced as she turned his back. Had he chosen wrong? Surely not, he felt it within him even as he spoke the words to behold this.

As she looked at him again, his tail quivered, and as she spoke, he heaved a sigh and stood. He understood; he had seen those like her. "I understand," he mewed softly. "You would want to serve as a warrior, wouldn't you?" He stopped, looking at the ground before looking at her again. "I think you would do great as a medicine cat apprentice. You would be honoring the Clan with an intelligent, gifted mind that is belongs to one of the most important cats of all." He stopped again, and this time, he said nothing more. What else was there to say?
