I know some cutters, and I have cut myself. Cutting is a way to deal with the pain we have inside. Despite what some people believe, it doesn't mean we're suicidal. Not always but sometimes. Seeing and feeling, shows us we are alive. Through that numbness, we can still feel. There are other ways to feel rather than doing something dangerous. These are methods I have used and have worked, but be aware it might not work for everyone. Why? Everyone is different. It's what makes us unique Also remember if it doesn't work for you, please don't get upset or think you're a failure, and please don't feel this way if you slip up and cut again. No one is perfect. It isn't worth yelling at yourself or thinking negatively(even though our brains like to do that!), but tell yourself this: "It's okay, I can try again."Now for the the methods. Some of them people may already know. Also, if you have tips/methods, by all mean share them! Would love to hear how others deal with it ![]() Exercise. The same adrenaline and endorphins one gets from cutting, you can get from exercising. If you have a dog, walk them, have a horse? Go for a horse ride. The more vigorous, the more endorphins produced. This also helps with depression. Ice. If you feel the urge to cut, grab some ice and press around the wrist/arm area. Or wherever you cut. Do this for a few minutes. Rubber bands is what I used the most. Feel an urge coming along, snap the band against the wrist. Or, if you're able to, just say this: "I wont cut for five minutes." and then when five minutes pass, say it again, see how long you can go. Eventually the urge of wanting to cut will pass. This doesn't always work so if you cut after the first five minutes, please, again, don't get too upset. Makes it worse -clings- |
