Hello my precious Peers and Supporters,

I am a PWLE: a person with lived experience.

I have been to hell, and got the hat and t-shirt... And I came back from the darkness.

Recovery is possible - I am the evidence.

For all of you who are hurting, please know that speaking out is the first brave step! I'm proud of every single one of you. Those of us who know what it feels like to scream in silence need to stick together and help each other out. Let us be a stronger unified voice that will not remain silent any longer.

There are resources for recovery - this platform is one of them. Hope, personal responsibility, education, self-advocacy and support systems can help. Many of us did not have good role models... we can change that right now. WE CAN REPLACE PEER PRESSURE WITH PEER SUPPORT.

I encourage all of you to look into local peer support resources in your community, or message me if you need some guidance. I recently represented PWLE at the Mental Health Commission of Canada anti-stigma conference in Ottawa, and heard many inspiring stories of recovery... It starts when we decide to take health care into our own hands.

Yours in Wellness,

xxx
