Don't self-harm

I know this may not help everyone, but I know it helped me. I used to burn myself, and doing these things helped me feel better, and escape the emotional pain, more than self-harm did.

Express yourself, without talking:
- Sing a song that you relate too. Sing it loud, and let all your emotions flow with it.
- Draw something about how you feel, let all your anger and misery out. Or draw something nice, something that makes you happy.
- Write. Write anything that can hold emotions, a poem, a story, a song.

Talk to a close friend or relative that you can trust. If you feel that you cannot talk to anyone about your feelings, either because you feel alone, or you fear it will hurt them, write a journal that can hold all your thoughts and feelings. Even if you do have someone to talk to, keeping a journal still helps, in case there are some things you CANT tell another person.

Listen to music. Upbeat songs may help uplift your mood, slow songs have more chance of relating to how you feel. Listen to both, too much of one without the other may not help.

Read a book. No matter how bad you feel your life is, reading is a temporary escape. Read romantic, fun books to feel happier, mysteries if you wish to be forced to think about things other than your life, or read a sad, dark book, you may be able to relate to it, or possibly see how the characters may have it worse than you do and you may feel a bit better.

Hope this helps you! And please, don't hurt yourself!

Thank you :) I have been cutting for years and the regret after cutting is the worst and also the scars are there to always remind you of the bad past... I wish I had never staryed and I have not done it in about a month but now I am getting more comfortable breaking thinhs. I used to love to listen to music but really I associate music in general to bad memories I also associate writing to bad memories as well. I really wish life were simpler.
