homebrewer not fishmonger

Trav's tinny trips thread is a good one. So decide to roll my 2014 trips into one thread.

Been out on the weekend to get the cob webs out.
Saturday was a bust.lost a small hammerhead, few undersize whiting and flathead.
Sunday took my little man out for his first trip in the boat crabbing.in turn lost a net and got undersize crabs. he loved it. Managed to get a sized tailor on a squidgy prawn.

Need some pics to mak ae it interesting lol. Actually a good idea aye, if everyone starts there might be a good collection of stories over time. Wish I could make a start but haven't got my shoulder/compo claim sorted yet or my shoulder fixed so no fishing for me yet .Going stir crazy at home but once better I'm going to make up for it by going as often as possible and start my new post/story.

I hear you Dan, the closest i came to fishing this weekend was scooping water-boatmen out of the pool.

Oh well, at least you got the tailor and had the little one out Fish - more than what I've done recently due to the wind blowing madly down here.

Well bronco and unhurry you guys missed out tonight. Pity though the action was good and hot!
first fish on the boat was a 360mm dhu, tagged and released. next was a eagle ray that gave some hurry up.

then this

it had to pay off sooner or later and this is from one of the reefs off bunbury. The herring schooled up and out they went as livies. The squid ate one, a large unknown ate another and straightened my hook, then the last snapped off due to the line wrapping around the rod tip.

so a real mixed tonight with port jackson sharks, banjo and eagle rays.

Was out last night till 1am. I was supposed to catch up with rob but would of been dealt on the road. Sorry rob.

20 herring, a few port Jackson sharks and a wobbegong. The south Wester forced me to go towards Belvedere. I really need to explore this section if beach better. I'm getting better now that buying bait is almost unheard of. I still buy mulies if need be

Took two work mates out last night for a snapper. Looked good. High tide just after sunset and very little wind. Ran out to a spot that was about 5 km south of the ramp. Anchor down and baits in. First fish was a cuttle fish. A few missed Hook-ups and promising.

I just told my mate to piss off the treble arrangement as the fish will through them when he Hooks a solid little dhu! 62 cm and a full tummy of wrasse. From them on it was rays and Snook. We even list a small shark.

Witham nice skippy and dhu in the Esky we left for home. My mate was stoked to get his first dhu fish and glad to actually get him on a fish.

Took abi out last night for a few hours to try to get a snapper. I got one but only 30cm. Then lost a solid dhu line separated jsut about the second hook. Got out done by Abi again though! A few skippy and some big herring. serious big live baits! and a tailor that pulled hard on 5lb line. I wish i had the poppers/lures to see if i could do it. could it quits are we drifted. noticed that i had lost teh anchor again. not hte anchor shackle but the chain to rope shackle :(

Went out twice yesterday. Went out 10km chasing big dhu and snapper. Instead found the biggest flathead I have ever caught and seen in Bunbury. Tried to get it on the brag matt but didn't want to play ball. I got a photo and released it. Of it went strongly too.

I gave up looking for the dhu and snapper and came in closer and found a bit of ground but came in due to the out law going to hospital with some bleeding...

I then went out later that night. In close about 2 km from shore. First fish on board was a octopus.

Then laying a burely trail for the snapper to come in a greedy dhu came in. Took a 12/0 good little fight and Jess's rod is now christened with a legal fish..

While doing this caught a few silver dollars and skippy. Then the snapper turned up. No big ones as the 405mm the biggest. I got 3 and returned them with a tag in them.

Also caught a cat shark and finished the night with a bloody eel.

Nice work fish. Good flatty....it would have never seen the light of day on my boat :) Can't beat a decent sized flathead baked in the oven wrapped in your fav herbs/veges in alfoil.

You've been quite consistent with the Dhu's lately. You've got it sussed.
I'm actually been half thinking of heading down that way, a Mate showed me areas down there which he was willing to share, quite a fair way out though, but apparently worth the trip. Hardly touched.

Got to be a great day to head out 20+ mile off Bunbury Spence. The wind when comes round the cape can be unforgiving.

I don't fish more then 3 km from the shore now no point.

Went out last night to the snapper spot chasing a snapper. The plan was to bag out and head down to the huts and make my way back. Instead everyone pulled out and I was on a solo so snapper spot it was.

I tried another spot before hand but Nothing.

Baits down and I got a small snapper at 380mm. Tagged and released. A few inquiries. A wirrah and a ray that tangled me in the anchor rope. A small cat shark and then the breast turned up. My personal best at 760mm. It was a different fight and it gave up about 2m from the surface and I thought it was a dhu.

On board and iced. More burely and I wait. The skippy and herring turn up so I keep a few and a few out as live baits but nothing more. So called it quits and came in.
