Just got back from a stint on the south coast and was abolutely blown away. I didnt know how i was going to top my last trip but I did
ill keep it short.

First stop yallingup- Turn up, crack beer get out of car and witness the biggest school of salmon ive seen in years getting hammered by the dolphins. They were still hungry tho!

Got a few more salmon the next day and then left for greener pastures.

Moved on to the south coast and picked up bonnies, medium YTK's and sambos most days.

Plenty of wildlife.
I heard a loud slap, turned my head and witnessed a big white pointer breaching the surface upside down in the air! Stoked. Assume he was chasing a seal.

Big bronzies to 10ft or bigger at my feet, had a bit of fun with them.

Whales have started moving in numbers. Had one whale thump his tail so loudly for so long i thought he might be getting harassed by ol' whitey. Either that or the females love guys that have loudest tail slaps

Landed the biggest sambo ive ever seen solo. Measured 135cm but was the fattest ive seen. Im calling 35kg+. I didnt have a camera on me! typical. I couldnt lift it up for a pic any way. Release was a priority but im not sure if he made it.
Got plenty of 15-20kg sambos with a few bigger.

Pics of me are self timed. Im no photographer.

Another sambo and a freshly injured salmon. Plenty of salmon around but they are mostly pains in the ass and become annoying and frustrating when your hard earned livey is taken by one.
The salmon are just poled in on the big gear. They dont even take line!

The salmon fillets didnt last long.
I think hooks should come with a weight rating like line does.
One of many tackle failures so alot was learned.

Nice combo, It was dead quiet for awhile then picked up these two on consecutive baits.
Had a fair few encounters with the hoodlums on poppers and after losing a few and targeting them proper I finally landed one. They make salmon look like fairies. Lost an est 12-15kg one on a barnacle after he was beaten at the rocks edge. Busted off by another and plenty of interest.
Scored a stripey tuna on a popper, looked 4 or so kg but he was only lightly hooked and the hook pulled out when hoisting him up the rocks. Talk about a lineburner. I want more of those!

Had a salmon eat my herring hook.

I wanna move down there Lefty. All up 2 weeks on the sth coast with a couple of bad weather days and travelling. A week in margs and a night in yallingup.

More fishness, In Margs the weather was blown out all week so I fished a spot I hadnt been to in 15years where I used to surf. Plenty of herring for my bro in law while I was casting a popper, next thing we see a huge sambo shoot out from under a ledge and nail the popper. The fish sat there as stunned as I was and then took off and busted me off. Loved it!
Cheers Boots and Wookie.

Yeah usually go a live herring or skippy but bloody salmon have been destroying everything over the last couple of months.
I've had a number of big buggers nearly beaten but solo gaffing doesnt leave much room for mistakes.

Fark yeah, insane, what a mission. Rewards for effort mate.

I love your stories... and then when you photo shop yourself into some great catches is truly inspiring, I want to head down next year.

Keep it up.
