Storms, rain and Pinkies

With wookies reports of Lb pinks i started to get very excited about this year actually bothering to go out in the storms to see if i can nab a pinkie.

So with last saturday and sunday looking terrible i took the opportunity to give it a crack!

Headed off to a tempting looking spot with the old man wrapped up in about 5 layers of clothes and rain jackets and rubber boots. Set up by about 6 and set up the rigs with butter fish being the bait of choice .

Rain and wind and then some more rain and wind. Then it happened about 7.30 bump bump and the saragossas 25000 lightly set drag screams off ! A short 5 minute fight later in comes a solid 76cm 7 Kg pink. Great looking fish but with some deformities making it a very thick tall fish but also very stubby.

Congratulations all round on my first pink from the beach, we set up again to see if we could get dad one. Shortly after he has a run on his rod dad runs over to set the hooks but the fish spits the baits. Had a look and in comes a butter fish with a very crushed head so i am thinking pink.

Another 10 mins goes by and my rod goes off again, this time the fish is not as heavy but still in comes a 52 cm taylor !

It continues raining and about 11 dad and I decide its time to head in and get up at 4 to give the pinks a go on high tide. This turns out to be a poor move as we got nothing !

All in all stoked its a highly addictive form of fishing and I am keen for the next storm to try out some spots that i think will produce down here in bunvegas.

Well done mate, definitely go next storm to a couple of those spots we were talking about.
Light drag on the saragosa is about 40 kilos isn't it?
