Yeehaa, what a christening!

Chilli kindly gave me the coords to a spot that we hit tonight, we got a few legal snapper first up. You beauty, im happy as larry.
We drift off the spot and come across a great little lump maybe 200m off the original coords and deckie No 1 hooks up and gets a seriously solid dhuie boatside, he was an old black cave dweller and looked at least 12-15kg. I gave him the option to grab the fish himself as we couldnt find the gaff. He denied and I grabbed the line to manouvre the fish for a gill grab and the leader snapped.
Bummer!
Not long later I score a nice pinkie about 4kg and then lose one much bigger.
No 1 deckie gets a nice sambo about 15kg that goes back.
Skippy and herring were prolific but we didnt target them.
We had a berley pot chewed off. (I see what you mean SnappaDan!)
We move spots and first cast I score a dhuie about 4kg. Im wrapped at this point.
A few more runs and misses we pull the pin.
Im stoked for this to be the first mission out we didnt use much fuel.
The deck has been bloodied and Im ready for more.
Sorry no pics as yet. I just needed to brag!

Hixy and myself went out for a run last night. What a top notch evening. The wind was well down and the water was calm as. We anchored up and started a good burley trail going and just before dark, Hixy got onto a just legal snapper, followed by one that was just under size. We then had a boat drive quite close to the back of the boat right through the burley, which I think put off the snapper as killed the bite.

Things went quiet for a bit apart from a seriously angry eagle ray. It was time for a cup of tea and biscuits (yep, no expense spared on Yakabe's tub) when my rod takes a run. Couple minutes later up comes a 65cm dhu. Stoked and into the esky. Not a lot else happened for the night so headed in. Well worth the run.

Dan, I gave him the full run down. I said he should grab the fish, but he declined. I said all care no responsibility, he said 80lb leader but it must of rubbed on a bit of dhufish mouth because it snapped way too easily when I grabbed the line.
At least the fish swam of strong, I managed to get a handful of tail as he powered off but he was too strong!

Still a horrible feeling though aye, I've lost a few fish for others on occasions and it feels terrible even if you've done it all as good/right as you can. Oh well you'll have to go back and get it next trip. Actually if you let me know :) exactly the spot I'd give it a shot and see if I have better luck. lol. (Joking)

Im sure I just found your real spot haha.
Appreciate the coords and Ill show ya where exactly. Sound around your original area there are some awesome caves.
Fish came from out of the sound.
Tucking into the last bit of the fish now, had to hand out most of the dhuie to the sponsors (T and D)

Hey Numbskull,

I would reckon somewhere around 5 kilo for the dhu.

Yeh,
Jim,
Yaka's on the number i'd expect between 5-6kg
80cm around 9-11kg
90cm around 12-14kg
1m are up to around 15-18kg
1.1m+ are usually in 20kg+

All good mate, happy to know I am reading the sounder. Just goes to prove that when you find the ground, if at first you don't succeed then go back again.

Well done once again.
