Well. What a trip We arrived on Thursday lunch time. Unpacked everything at the house, then threw the boats in for our first fish. Swells were high but winds down. Started to make our way out and my gps shut down. Fuse connection was the problem. I quickly wire that onto the fish finder fuse also. I caught a 6 to 700 long sambo, 260 blackass and a 430 dhuie. These were all caught on chicken thigh as bait. Between the other 3 boats, 2 baldie and a dhuie. Friday. Oh what a day Boats in by 6.30 2 boats went deep and myself and another stayed in close (1 person in mine, 2 peeps in the other) Water was great. Hardly and wind and swell really low and nothing. Not a bite. Nothing until about 1.30-2. Was driving me crazy. I was ready to head home. Water and winds picked up. The fish finder fuse blew because of the extra draw so more rewirng Then the other boat picked up a dhuie. They went around again and another dhuie. I joined the drift and before I hit the bottom, 570 dhuie for me. Thank you. They were all caught between 8-10m of water We backed out on dhuie. Weather was picking up even more so home we come with more I van exciting venture. Gunnel rubber fell off the boat, sliced up by the prop, and they way it landed, funneled water into the boat, I then bumped the deck wash which pumped more water in the boat, right switch the bilge on, blocked from crap that must have washed in. The pump was slow but cleared after switching it on and off a few times. Weather for today is low wings but 4 meter swell. Today I think I will just leave my boat on the trailer and make my way home. |

Nah. Regardless I don't think I would put my boat in. 3.5 meters now. 4 meters about 11. Low winds but still, I'm not to keen on that high swell |

Yeh, you should be ok though with a long period swell. Bouy weather has called it as safe for most marine activities. Usually its a pain holding bottom though in 3-4m swells, and scary as due to it breaking in areas it normally doesn't. http://www.buoyweather.com/wxnav6.jsp?program=nww3BW1&grb=nww3®ion=AW&latitude=-30.5&longitude=115.0&zone=8&units=m&reqLatitude=-30.302798143884534&reqLongitude=114.99612808227538 Edited by Spence, Sep 13 2014, 07:35 AM.

lol I left jurien about 11.30 I thought with my luck, I should just stay on land. The other boats went out. Weather was good but nothing really came up. All safety gear is checked and current. I will be upgrading a few things now tho |

You got a Dhu and had a trip you will remember for a long time. A 4m swell with low winds is okay as long as you stay away from shallow reefy areas. |
