Hi all, Last weekend i got the chance to head down to Walpole with my wife and parents to get out into the ocean as the weather was looking good! Dad had recently bought a Barcrusher 680HT so was keen to put it through its paces. Drove down on Friday night and braved the roo's to arrive at Coalmine beach caravan park. A quick chat and we had a plan of attack for the morning. Up at 6 for a late start we launched in the Inlet and made our way to the mouth and pushed through the narrow channel out the a stunning looking ocean with low swell and granite outcrops dropping into a deep blue sea. I am going to shorten the next bit because to mention every fish and every moment would be writing a novel. Long story short the fishing is amazing. We caught 4 Blue groper 7, 10, 12 and 16 Kilos. About 8 or so Fox fish, 3 Queenies, Plenty of Breaksea, A nice nanni, Swallowtail, sea Sweep, YTK's and pinkies. Highlights include the wife doing battle with the groper and myself learning to use butterfly jigs and nabbing some breaksea and Harliquin on them. The fishing was amazing over 2 days. At most we travelled 700m from shore and spent maybe 4 hours fishing each day. It was the first time out for us too. So we had no marks and not much prior knowledge. In fact the trip almost made me sad. It was a look back at what the fishing may have been like off Perth and other areas 20 or 30 years ago. In saying that we also did the rightly and let go 2 of the groper and other species when we thought we had enough. The place is stunning heading through a dead flat Inlet watching Osprey dive and grab mullet in front of the boat. Karri trees right to the waters edge and very few people. I spent most of my childhood down there fishing for bream but to get out into the ocean was memories I wont forget and hope to do again in the future. The Barcrusher performed wonderfully. You need the bigger boat. Near the granite outcrops the swell comes straight back and you end up with 2.5 swell heading in all directions. Heading out over the flat Inlet we opened up the crusher and got her to speeds of 40kts without pushing it hard! Great time were had and the area has many more secrets to reveal. Like the fact that 100ms of water lies very close to shore and Hapuka and other deepwater species lie very close to be explored. Hope you like the write up Goodie Edited by Goodie, Nov 20 2014, 08:18 PM.

Hey Goodie, how would a 4m tinny go? I've never been brave enough to go into the ocean. It is usually no place for a small boat? |
| For every day that you don't pay, I'm gunna cut one of your fingers off | |

You can get out Barry just gotta get a day 1.5m and less with low winds. Same as any ocean really just less forgiving if you get it wrong more than most. Lots of bream boats and such went out the mouth and stayed in close getting big kgs and queenies in the lee of saddle island |
