A mate has come down for christmas from port hedand with his wife and kids plus a catch up for a fish and beer. Planned to hit the whiting at mandurah estuary and chew the fat. Only issue was one of the tinlids was with us. NO bother they can play together and run amok... wrong Sadie is scared of crabs and needed to be carried to the sand bars where we fished... we hit the proposed spot and it was very low tide, with teh wind against us also and it was a trudge out to the deeper pockets of water. The crabs were menacing and my mate dingo got clawed a few times and the kids founds it very hysterical. we casted about with a few different lures to find that the sugapen 70f's where the go, the pop dogs and scum dogs no good. i managed a take and a quick sprint before the lure came off. dingo had not managed a take yet but while showing him the method a nice size smacked the lure during the lesson and he was hooked. he even managed to get one on the sand bar before it spat the lure and powered off to the channel. we had most of the times about 6 following the lure before retreating to the drop off. in all i think we had about a dozen hookups but only one landed. |
