Got the day off work yesterday so I hopped on a bus (missus had the car, kids &w as going out) & a train & another bus.

Ended up at Penguin island sand bar about an hour & a half after I left home.

yeh pretty good day to jag off work.

So the fishing was pretty good- tons of herring, whiting as far as the eye could see (and with conditions like that it was a fair way) very frustrating casting into a school of big whiting & having the school follow but never being able to hook up.

The herring became quite technical to hook. After a stage I had to stroll round to find a school cast ahead & lead them with a fast stripped fly.

Had a few herring go nuts when hooked & found some bigger shapes chasing them.

There were snook here bigger ones than this & something bigger too. Got busted off a couple of times.

It was a good sesh & sunburn too. Must remember to pull the buff all the way up next time.

Heaps of fun on a 6wt flyrod.
