Day out in the dingy

Shark
Went out for a snapper fish yesterday down Rocko way yesterday as the weather looked like it was going to be as good as it is going to be for my week off. After sounding around for a bit we found a few fish hanging around a bit of structure. Down went the anchor and the burley trail began. After about 45 minutes the first rod went off and after a short solid fight the Deckie had eagle ray beside the boat. After a few smart arse remarks from me we cut it loose.
Five minutes later my rod went off and after about ten minutes I my 2nd ever mullaway beside the boat and at 15kg it was my pb. This was the beginning of a pretty hot bite. During my fight the deckie had hooked up to a shark and had boat side but put his rod in holder to gaff the mullaway. By the we had the fish in the boat the shark had gone.
I quickly rebaited and cast the bait out again. Due to me rushing I managed to get a small wind not I the braid. As I was trying to undo this my 8lb set up went off. This had a size 1 hook it with small piece off mulie on it. The drag was screaming and the rod was buckled over. I dropped the other on the deck and started the tussle with the fish below. With some pretty violent heads hakes I was calling this for a snapper. The dickies rod then went off so he jumped on the back seat off the dingy to fight his fish. Then all off a sudden the rod that had the wind knot in it took off like a rocket straight in between my mates legs and into the deep abyss. I had forgotten to back off the drag after the last fight. My mates fish ended being a shark and busting him off and the same happened to me on the light setup.
Any way we hung around for another hour getting busted of a few more times. I decided to then put on a wire trace. I managed to hook up a poxy eagle Ray which had swallowed the hooks so I just cut it off. We decided to head in after that. Whilst we were tidying up the deck off the boat my mates rod when off. After a 5-10 minute fight we had another mullaway beside the boat. This one went to 13kg.
Lesson learnt yesterday was to always reset your drag straight after catching a fish. If anyone comes across a Stella 4000 on Diawa Catalano rod attached to a shark, snapper or mullaway a reward will be offered.

Awesome stuff and from a tinny, showing the big boats how it's done.

Couple of great fish there. Bugger about the outfit going over the side.
Thinking about towing by tinny down that way soon to fish those mussel farms then have a troll out the back of the Murray Reefs for a Mac.
They say "the early bird gets the worm"... Not a problem, worms all yours birdy. I'll get up around noon and fish a dry fly - Hank Patterson

That's a hard loss. Loosing a stella is tuff.
Some big slabs of fillets in return though.
What's the tinny?

Yep hard loss but at least some little prick didn't steal it,(I guess). The tinny is a Quintrex dory 4.45 with a 40 4stroke yammy
