Hi Lefty,

I use a Green Gomoku PE0.4-1 as shown in one of the pic (green EVA grip) with a Shimano Complex Ci4+ S2500 reel. Because there is a "S" prefix in the S2500, it is a shallow spool bream size reel.

To get more line capacity in case I hook a reasonably large pelagic, I bought a Stradic Ci4+ 2500 spare spool and it fits nicely. This spool is very deep and holds >300m of PE0.6 line.

Using Suffix Versa Game PE0.6 line and 10-15lb FC leader.

I realise the small diameter spool will allow me to work the tiny micro jigs slow and nice whereas a larger diameter spool tend to rip the jig away from the demersal fish.

Sometimes, I match the rod with TD Fuego 3000 and 10lb PowerPro Slick and it works a treat too.

Harlequins are a poor man's coral trout in my opinion - same aggression but taste just as good on the table!

Good fun. Been playing around with a few 30g jigs in the shallows lately. Only problem is the extra large sambos and kingys like them too

Nice work, Solid fish. Sounds like your jigs have paid for themselves already. How deep you talking?

Targetting bommies in 10-12m of water. Really good fun trying to extract them in that depth.

Cracking Dhu's for in close.

That's gotta be good fun?
And the fillets as a bonus.

Do you search hard with the sounder or are you jigging hard for hours?

Pretty much finding likely looking ground on the chart then drifting over it. no need for the sounder, Easier just to look over the side of the boat at that depth. A quick drift helps I reckon.

another couple

Wow, impressive. May I ask if you are fishing down south or above Lancelin ?

My micro jigs got inhaled most of the time and big fish wears out the leader fast.

Mostly sub 30g micros.
