Epic fishing trip.

Went out on a charter yesterday. Best charter trip I can think off.

First drop and a few min in, I landed myself a nice pinky. Quickly dropped again and landed a just under pinky.

I caught and lost quite a few fish after but landed a blackass.

We drifted past a school of monster cuttlefish in 40m of water. Managed to get 2 on board. The 2 guys that caught them didn't want them, so I kept them for mum.

By around mid morning. The skipper said that we were 7 short of the bag limit. What do you say if we go out to 300m of water, get the electric reels out and try for some grey bandit cod.

No cod but could other stuff that were nicely released with ease suprisingly. Managed to pick up a couple pinkies

We headed back into shallow grounds and into a dhuie school. Got a few on board and basically bagged out the boat by 2.30.

Right, let's go and chase some sambo for fun.
What is it??
Well, instead of us going to the sambo's. They came to us.

We saw some bait fish getting smashed on the top of the surface. Skipper quickly headed into the and started throwing out some plastic.

Big hook ups. The bait fish ball started using the boat for shelter which brought the sambos under the boat. In no time. Everyone that could had there plastics rod out and was hooked up.

We had about a hour of sambos under the boat. For those that didn't have a rod, we were able to rotate so everyone had a few goes.

Forgot to mention

The water was flat like you would believe and we were also blessed with plenty of whale watching

Sounds like a great day red. Those cuttlefish are messy things though. Great bait as well

Sounds like a good day on a charter. Great mix of species.

Cuttlefish are insane when they decide to ink but make great bait for dhus
Oh its on!

Wow! What a ripper day out! Would like to get out on a charter as it has been ages since I last went out on one.

Just wondering what charter this is and operating out of which location ?

Have you still got your boat red hilux? Looking at those awesome conditions you could've been out there in a tinny.
