went out from Dawesville early saturday morning as this was the first time out for roughly three months in my boat to go dhuie hunting. last time out i found some new ground in the 30-40 mtr range which we did alright on. so i thought we would head there to start the day off. i brought along a new deckie who on his first drop landed a pinkie of 54cm then on his second drop another pinkie to 73cm. the new deckie also brought along a bacon and egg toastie for the skipper. the other regular deckies were soon put on notice that if they dont pull their weight they would soon be relegated to standby deckies. after the two pinnkies the bite shut down so after shifting a couple of times to different spots with no luck i headed out a bit deep and to a spot that i havent fished for over a year. on our first drop there were two blue long lines going across the sounder. i commented there are my two dhuies for the boat. wouldn't you know it one of my regular deckies hooked up, then all hell broke loose with every one hooking up. we ended up with five dhuies (one double header) on the deck within minutes with the biggest being around the 18kg mark and the rest from 5 to 13kg. three were released, two swam away and one had to be put on the release weight. after sorting out the fish we moved spots back in shallower and down sized our hooks trying for some kgs. we ended picking up a couple of whiskerys which was enough for all of us so we called it a day and headed in. probably another 3 months before i can get out again. |

Would have been mayhem dropping onto that school of dhuies. Solid fish and those whiskerys are right up there I reckon. Was it a homemade bacon and egg sanga Ezi? |

Definitely worth going out for, 18kgs is a stonker and should keep the smiles going for quite awhile |

New deckies should know to keep the skipper happy. Top bag. A few high fives after the dhuie mayhem I'm sure. |

Double yolkers are great which would have gone great with these sangas as they had double bacon. If you're keen for a trip out send me a pm and times when you're available as I do go when the weather suits and really try to go mid week normally. I fish out of dawesville 99% of the time |

We'll have to do tandem trip sometime easy. I'm building up a good mass of points off there. Though 50km out. Nothing that you have though. |

No probs mate. I just can't tow the boat to far as need to get brakes on the cruiser. This spot I went to is approximately 26nm from the cut. So would be kind off the same area you've fished. This was also the spot choc and I went years ago and we got a couple of ten+ kilo dhuies. Maybe sometime before the ban. Even mid week work load depending and going in one boat if can't find deckies |

Well done ezi, that spot is awesome will never forget that day. Remember the young bloke that came with us and he fell in the drink while having a piss? |

Haha that's why I bring a piss bottle, just a juice bottle cut in half does the trick. Wouldn't want to fall over when fishing solo. |
