For a change I actually got away for the weekend and headed up the the Murray River.
Took the trailer set up the awning tent and headed up after work on Friday.
Set up camp around 6:30pm and put the first line out.
2 mins later a small Murray Cod @ 40cm on the bank.
I was pretty happy with myself as I wanted to tick that one off the list.
Landed 2 more that night about the same size before the 6 beers and mozzies put me to bed.

Up at 1st light the next day and put the 2 lines out.
1 Small Murray cod landed and then a very small Trout Cod.
Another one ticked off the list.

Time for spot number 2 further down stream. Set up about 9am.
1st line out hooked up to another small cod again around 40cm.
That as it for a while so I did exploring and had a feed before having a crack again later in the afternoon.

Spot number 3 set up in the shade around 4pm.
2 lines out and a bit of a wait before 2 small Silver Perch landed. 3rd box ticked.

That was it for the fish so back to camp for a feed, and few ambers by the fire till I fell asleep.

Woken up at 5am Sunday morning from a stampede of about 200 Roo's crossing the river through my camp.
Thought I was being run over by a truck with the noise.

Decided to pack up and beat the traffic back the city. All in all pretty happy with the weekend.

Thats pretty cool Lefty, catching new species is always good.
Do you think you'll be back to target bigger ones, or has that itch been scratched?
They say "the early bird gets the worm"... Not a problem, worms all yours birdy. I'll get up around noon and fish a dry fly - Hank Patterson

Going back to try a few more spots for bigger ones.
I have been offered a tinny to use so that might be the next venture.

Good work on the fish and seeing the roos would have been awesome.

I've been here for 2 years.
Can't see myself being here much longer.
Winters are as unbearable as the fishing.

Went up again on the weekend taking one of the in laws with me.
Not as successful with on the one small Cod being caught. Blamed the in law.
We did rid the system of a few carp though with 2 being 60cm and over 5kgs.
Don't take photos of carp but got a few "scenery" shots.

Choc beat me to it, I was just going to say the same. A nice spot to spend a weekend. Any of the Carp nice coloured ones like Goldfish ? Could sell them to people with aquariums or ponds. A mates kids used to sell them to a Pet store at first then online. $150-$200 is what the store sold 1kg-2kg specimens.

Rules state they have to be dispatched immediately.
They aren't anything special, plain with yellow fins.

They're pretty hated over here. Not much of a market for them.
Pic of a 40 something caught by one of the in laws a 2 years ago.

Couple from the Easter weekend.
Got very close to the 55cm legal limit but not quite.
I got 6 for the weekend, little cousin got 2 + 2 Trout cod.
4 other cod caught by the in-laws.
None hit the 55cm but they weren't far off.
