well I finally got out for a couple of days on the water.
I hit Cock...burn sound with Daz on wed and trolled around the southern end up to woodies without seeing a single bust. not a great deal of bait schools around but enough that we should have had some action at some time. we did 40km all up for nothing, but it was a good day on the water. no regrets.
web sites were showing 21 degrees in the sound and the sounder was showing 20ish. its still pretty warm which is why the main push hasn't arrived yet. I just hope they don't cut the corner and miss cock....burn all together, or stay further south, due to the water temp.

Mooh and I headed out to Penguin island yesterday for a yak around and the herring were thick enough to walk on in places. we could have bagged out a few times over easily but we kept out limit for pinky baits when the storms come in. it was pretty good fun on light gear. those buggers don't give up easily.
Conditions were perfect but there was a lot of weed around. It made fishing very difficult and trolling was a waste of time.
Mooh got into a couple of smaller skippy and we saw some smaller specimen (1-2kg) salmon but they weren't interested in any metals or placcies.
So it was just the herring for us but with glassy conditions and a warm day it was pretty much perfect out there.

so not much to show for it but a couple of nice days out.

I was out at mewstone today, tried for a quick salmon.

I think every man and his boat were at mewstone.

People were derigging their boat in the queue to the ramp. All 4 lanes at woodies were used as launch lanes.

I've never seen the ramp that busy begore

If the hezzas are thick then the salmon will be around them sooner or later.
