Thought I'd start thread for people to put up their Salmon picks. Here's how we started the season. Quick run down the coast on Sunday by the Moderator team of Goodie, Wookiee, Spence and myself to see if we could get amoungst them. Hamelin Bay was the preferred option but some whales with poor navigational skills meant we had to look else where. A little further down the road we pulled up and found schools ready and waiting. Fish were landed, some fish and lures were lost but we got into them and had some fun. About 11am the call was made for a pub lunch and a happy drive home. Not a bad Sunday. That's a good start, plenty of fish cakes coming up. Always good fun when everyone can get into quality size fish together. |

I'm sorted for cray bait for a while. Too much of a fish snob to eat them. |

We all got fish around the 6 kegger mark. Wook and I were more relaxed about the experience. |

Just wondering what sort of rod length were you guys using for pelting lures at the beach ? Would think the traditional surf rod taper is designed for lopping star sinker more than for lures. |

I was using a 9 foot Laguna. Cheapy $90 thing. 60-120g cast rating. Did the job well. Couple of the other guys had 11 footers but were lure cast style rods. Casting distance is key. What ever will get you out there. |
