well the young bloke has managed to save up 320 bucks and wants to buy a new soft plastic/lure chucking outfit ,just after a few opinions on what people would recomend.he wants something around 8 kilo.i came up with a diawa TDT 7foot5-8kilo spin rod and a diawa freams 4000 reel ,but i think a 4000 size reel may get to heavy for him to hang onto all day |

Samaki zecton phase II and the shimano Sedona. Reel has 9kg of drag and the rod will easily hold 30lb braid. though the rod is rated at 10 to 17lb. bonus also if you break a guide. send that section back. the join is below the first guide.. they will send you a replacement. heading to jurien in a fortnight if you want to have a fish. |

I think it will do the job well. Personally not a fan of the long butt sections of the Diawa's but it might give the lad a bit more leverage. The 4000 should be ok. You can look for something in a graphite spool but I'm not a fan. He'll grow into it pretty quick. |

Grot with the amount of fish the lad is dragging into the tinny and chucking the quad around ,he'll handle that combo . |

My Vote is for a 7' Lox Blade 8kg, they are awesome bit of kit for everything from medium weight plastics, 20 - 40gm lures and even medium bait fishing. Very light and very strong. About $270. Complete with bag and solid rod tube. BCF, Campbells. Suits 4000 Shimano reels or 3000 Daiwa reels. Check out fishing forums like Breamaster and dare I say it, Fishwrecked for good 2nd hand stuff that they will post. Picked up a near brand new Sol 3000 with 15lb Suffix braid (plus spare unused spool) for $200 posted recently. But as most people will agree spend the most on the rod. rods are getting so much cheaper recently. Im looking at a new 1-3kg flats combo and thought i would be throwing about 3-400 on what i want for the rod. Looks like ill be spending about 130-180 depending on which of the 3 i like i go with and they are lovely rods with good action at the tip. im a big fan of action at the tip...... |

I would asume it depends on the type of rod. On my Bream gear the reels out cost the rods easily. On 1-3 kg gear and 1000 size reels it's the reel (drag qualitly) that makes the difference. |

ive always spent more on reels than rods ,i beleive you get a better drag the more you spend and a good drag will iron out any issues with a not so perfect rod action, anyway ive heard nothing but good reveiws about the freams so i think ill stick with that and 20lb tufline ,that should be a good compromise for demersal plastics to shallow water flatties and throwing poppers to jumbos up dongara way |

well we ended up getting the set up i first thought off and must say its a ripper little setup ,is it just me or is every BCF shop in the state farkin useless ,i got the balcatta mob to put away a 50 pack of 10/0s for balloon rigs(last pack in perth i could find) went to pick them up and they had lost them and could only do me 2 packs of 25 for 33 bucks each (the 50 pack was only 32 bucks) needless to say i still got the hooks for the price i wanted but only after half an hour of F**king around and telling them i had driven 2.5 hours just to pick them up. anyway ended up at bluewater morley and must admit i was very impressed with the service and will probly do alot more of my buisness the in future prob with the hooks is that 10/0 gamakatsu occys are going up to nearly 80 bucks a box,may as well start using owners for that price |
