Hi all, Just after some trusty braid types. I know they can be hit and miss and you get what you pay for, but always good to have field tested feed back. Some of the super thin braid i swear is not even close to its break strain. So far i know finns is good and i am currently using sunline (super thin!) which goes alright. Any other recommendations ? Cheers Goodie |

Braid usually is over listed breaking strain. Hixy posted that good link on strength tests. Check your knots if you're having snap offs. Always moisten braid before tightening down the knots. Double check them for strength. I shock pull mine a few times. |

Fireline for me now too. Have used 4lb on the rarenium and thats lovely to cast with. 80lb tracer on the Van Staal runs very nice too. Daiwa Shinobi 20lb on my 4000 is excellent and hasnt failed me but i think someone (nik?) was having trouble with it. expensive stuff. used to love High Seas but found it thickened pretty severely with use. started off nice, ended up crappy lumpy mess. |

Suffix 832 for casting. very soft and smooth but does wear. Need to cut off the last 10mtr or so after extended sessions. |

I bought a bulk spool of stren super braid off ebay a few years ago and its the best braid ive used. Casts well/strong and good knot strength. Ive got some suffix 80lb and 6lb on some reels which goes ok but have had bad experiences with some sizes in between. Rovex I'll steer clear of as the slightest bit of abrasion kills it and when youre casting $25 lures, having them sail off into the distance unhindered or hooking fish and the line snapping where seaweed has rubbed it gets rather frustrating. |
