Hi all, In the process of getting some quotes for the side of my house done. Basically after what other people have been quoted for piece of mind. I just want normal grey concrete with the mesh underneath. Its around 60 sqm and needs a bobcat to come in for about 20 mins to level stuff. Any past prices etc would be great! I was hoping it would come in at about 2 grand, as my pavers would cost me 2 grand alone to buy. Cheers |

Bobcats start from about $600 for a half day plus any dumping fees (if taking soil out. If it's just a patio area then you should just be able to concrete but if your running vehicles over it then about 100mm of compacted yellow sand is a good idea. Cost me 2K to have my entire back yard dug out and then yellow sand land down. My shed pad is 7x9 meters plus another 10 meters of 1m wide path cost $2300 with mesh. Concrete was 40mpa which is what you use for driveways. You can go lower but 40 is pretty strong without being too brittle. Things to know when talking to contractors. What reo will they use. Concrete is only as good as the reo in it. What mpa? ranges from 20 to 60. The bigger the area the more prone to cracking when drying. Workout where the joins will be. What finish? Good question to ask as you may have a specific look or purpose for it. Sealing it keep the concrete from staining. This time of year I would give it 3-4 days before putting a sealer on to make sure it has cured well. Sealing too early may not take well if curing is slow in cold weather. If you are going to be there when they pour DON'T let them add water to the mix before they pour. It weakens the concrete a lot. They will tell you it makes it easier to work with but that moisture comes out when it cures and it leave air behind and in some cases causes cracking. |

I'd get more quotes. I had quotes vary from $2100 to $3800. |
