Righto ive booked the 27th off work so i can take the mrs for a 4 day weekend camping. Planning on hitting up warner glen on the blackwood as i use to spend most xmas hols there back in school.
Only problem is the mrs doesnt really like my kind of camping (swag in the canopy) so i'm after advice from anyone who takes their other half camping, what should i invest in to make things easier?
At the moment i'm going for a dome tent (been that bloody long since ive had one) along with a decent air bed, maybe the ones with legs etc, dvd player, 12volt shower (not going the instant hot water ones tho)
Any other key items?

instead of buying new camping gear maybe look at hiring a camper trailer to make it a little bit more comfy.

Haha if i take a camper i cant take the tinny.....
We've done a couple of overnighters in the ute up to jurien and mandurah but 3 nights may be a little too much of an ask sleeping in the ute

Dont think the old 2.8 lux would like that idea too much.
By the time i hire a camper etc it'd work out cheaper staying in a caravan park so i'm wanting to steer clear of that

The 2.8 would hate that Trav haha, I got one as well.

Toilet would be the most critical for the female id say.

Yeah warner glen has a decent toilet set up and a bbq area as well.
Had a look at a few tents this avo and found a nice 4man one 2.6m by 2.2m with a 2.2 by 2.1m enclosed annexe/changeroom for 140bucks, and a comfy queensize airbed so things are looking good

definitely get one of those cheap toilet thingos. i can't recall where i bought mine - but a BCF or whatever should have them.

the toilet seat with fold up legs, find a good spot (close to camp where a woman can wake up in middle of night and find not too far from sleeping spot, but is out of eyesight, and you may need to break vegetation/clear obstacle so can easily locate open walk path to/from in torchlight).

i dig a deep (but not wide, don't want fold legs collapsing and falling in) hole below the dunny seat, and leave pile of dirt and spade close to easily shove a bit of soil onto S**t below), and put dunny paper on a branch (or dig one in if no bush/tree close).

i find, if you give females the luxury of a no stress S**te in the scrub, itlleviates half of your problems.

insect repellent a must!!
big cats exist in our bush!

I purchased a self inflating air mattress and I am happier sleeping on that. They are good imo
Give a man a beer and he'll waste an hour. Teach him to brew and he'll waste a lifetime.

Utes nearly packed (just need to add the export) and we're all set to leave in the morning.
Ive got the small rods packed so hopefully a chance of some blackwood river bream or skippy and whiting from augusta.
Dont have freshwater fishing licences so we'll have to bypass pemberton so i dont get tempted haha

Well we made it, little wet but no complaints from the mrs so its all good.
Stayed at chapman brook and managed around 20 or so bream from 22-30cm. Had a quick flick in Augusta but were attacked by swarms of tiny silver bream (new harbour looks fishy tho) so stuck to doing the tourist stuff. (Gaints cave, factories etc etc)
Did a bit of exploring along the blackwood east of warner glen road and found some unreal camp spots that will be revisited with a marron licence in hand.

Cheers fellas.
Had a fair few water/ creek crossings down there which were a little cold on the legs haha. The puddle in the picture dropped straight off to over a metre on the left hand side which wouldve been interesting to drive into.
Didnt have high hopes of crossing the blackwood ( water was well over head height at the bridge)
How far upstream is fishable for redfin etc? Couple of really nice streams and pools along where we were
