I had this mount done of the best looking trout I've ever caught. Ive caught bigger and heavier fish in the past, but none even compared to the awesome condition of this Jack.
location South Is NZ
fly #12 Pheasant tail
tippet 6lb maxima

Killing fish for mounts is not everybody's cup of tea I know. I spent about about 5 mins with it trying to release but he battle was too much for it.
No regrets tho, the big fella looks great on my wall.

That looks mint!

Q: how do you go about getting this done btw Kiwi? Ive been curious as to do it myself one day.

A mate has a 27kg Dhu on his office wall, I haven't seen it. But apparently its an eye boggler when you step into his office. People are more impressed about his fish then his services. Good distraction I suppose haha

Fairly painless process spence. As soon as i could i got in contact withthe taxidermist to see what the process was. Heres the steps i took.
1 Take lots of photos as soon as you can
2 decide which is the display side and let nothing touch it.
3 Freeze
4 Wrap up in dry newspaper and send to taxidermist.
5 Wait
6 Wait
7 Go fish in Mexico
8 Wait
9 Pay the bill and have it couriered out.

haha sounds like a lengthy process.
I want to some demersals done at some stage. Not monsters obviously, but something to put on wall. Always a good talking point with guests.

You can sit it next to your elephant and lion heads Kiwi! j/k

Looks good. Bit more professional than freezing your fish whole and whipping em out every now then to admire.
