G'day fellow fishermen and fisherwoman,

Do any of you have a hendheld marine radio. Do they compare to the bolt in units? Do they get the same range and operate on the uhf and /or vhf frequencies?

Thanks, Adam

I'd give Rae or Richard a call at ACRM. they have a good idea about the Hand helds. Apparently quite good for the size of them. $99 for a pair.

Hey ChilliBeer,

I have been using a Standard Horizon HX280S VHF for some time now and it has been really good. I have changed to a fixed GME 600 and have found that it gets a lot better range than the hand held. I still carry the hand held as a back up though.

Yakabe.
