Gday all, after all the good advice I went out armed with my new tyrnos30, 50lb braid, my paternoster with snelled 6/0s and 1 6/0 on lower and scalies. Started in 40mtrs where I caught a snapper 1st drop. Few more drifts in various spots resulted in double header of snapper and sambo and another snapper. Fishing was slow. Headed to 100mtrs and caught sambo then sergeant baker which was turned into a decent black arse. Another snapper followed by a sea sweep and it was time to head home.

Was an enjoyable day out but unfortunately the snapper coming over the side were undersize except one that I kept,58cm and the blackbum went 54cm. I donated the sweep to the esky and all sambos released. There was a fella onboard saying he wanted the sambos and 1 of the pinkies which was just size but insisted they all went back. At the end of the day I had the highest tally of fish with some people not getting 1. Even the couple who fished from behind me as I was in the very back corner, they did not get a bite.

I reckon the skipper done a good job of putting us on the ground just the fish either were not there or we were all S**t. ! undersize dhuie was caught. I would not hesitate going on that particular boat again. I am happy with the days outcome.

But I think I will post here 1st before booking my next charter.

Thanks for the info fishos it done me well.

Adam

Good to see you had a good day mate and the advice by sounds paid off in the end.
I'm surprised by no dhuies, but like i said before about full moon in my post, I honestly think its the worst time to go fishing for Dhuies with them being nocturnal feeders and lazy stay out of current fish. Just my theory anyhow.

I think all the advice given is the difference between a good day and a bad day on a charter.
Glad you got onto some good fish and had a good day.

Nice work, how did the reel go?
Sounds like enough action to keep it interesting. Ive only had a few good charter experiences

Next time im keen but sambo jigging. Havent done it in a few years.
Nice feed which was better than the rest of the boat. They would have been spewing you threw the pinky and sambos back

Hi Jim, reel went real good. Am very happy with it. Learnt I have to use a glove winding her up from 100 meters.

They were spewing that I chose to throw a few fish back but I am a firm believer in if it needs to be measured then throw it back. It will grow bigger and I or someone on my boat will catch it... I hope???
