Coplour patch is ok but there isn't any light at night & there's heaps of weed that can make fishing with a sinker a bit of a pain. The Augusta town jetties are pretty good as well with lots of big skippy under the jetty that will take an unweighted prawn quite readily. They have lights there and it is a bit of a bigger area to share if there are a couple peeps fishing. Don't bother going to skippy rock (it sucks). The disabled fishing spot on the way to the lighthouse as well is supposed to hold Kgs too. If you have time & are keen for the kids to catch black bream take them up to the Molloy Island ferry (bout a 15 min drive out of town) & walk down the dirt tracks either side . You should come to some openings in the shrubbery where you can pitch unweighted or lightly weighted baits. I think there might even be an old jetty on the right hand side. make sure your knots are tight & be quick on locking up the drag as the bream will brick you pretty quick (there are still some 40+ers there). |

Cheers Juggler, I like the sound of a few skippy, should sort the kids out. Are there any blowies in the system of will baits be fine? Not too fussed on the bream side of things, been getting a few lately. Thanks for the info mate. |

Bait's will be fine Kiwi. You can follow the river to the east end of town and fish from the shore for YF Whiting in the afternoons. There is also a dinghy hire if that's and option. Otherwise the info above is on the money. |

Still down there Kiwi? Was going to say we used to do well on big skippy off the town jetty. I've also seen big snapper on a couple of occasions cruising the shoreline at the start of the jetty, which always stunned me given the small entrance to the estuary. This is going back 10 years or more though. |

Cheers Moo, had a look around the jettys on Thursday but didnt do any good. Started to drizzle, kids got bored and the mrs pulled rank so had to leave. Headed way up the blackwood on some info from a past member, kids got some stonka bream on prawn baits so the day wasn't a complete write off. Took the rest of the bait and fed the rays at Hamelin Bay |

Those rays are hard case, as soon as a sniff of fish is in the water they hone in on it straight away. |
