Name: Sophia Kim Committee: Health and Human Services Subject: Education in Areas of Conflict Proposed by: Taiwan 1.Alarmed by the fact that a lack and poor quality of education in developing countries is 2.a growing problem in a world that is progressing at such a fast pace, 3. Deeply disturbed with the reality that one in four children in 4.developing countries are unable to read a sentence, 5. Fully alarmed that numerous developing countries have rapidly 6.increased their teacher population by hiring untrained people, 7.Noting with deep concern that 60 million children does not attend any 8.education institution, 9.Deeply concerned of the many people in developing countries that 10.cannot afford the cost of school fees, books, and transport to school, 11.Bearing in mind that women in most developing countries still 12.receive less education than men, 13. Aware of the difficulty of access to education for socially disadvantaged 14.groups ( females, religious, indigents and the disabled), 15. 1. Recommends raising awareness for the lack of education in developing 16. countries with the help of developed nations by campaigning and funding; 17. 2. Approves of beneficial acts that improves the quality of education in developing 18. countries by establishing useful facilities such as a community library and a computer center with 19.Internet accessible to everyone; 20.3. Encourages for more public funding from the United Nations towards schools in developing 21.countries to be used to hire more experienced, educated teachers and acquire necessary facilities; 22.4. Calls for the United Nations to assist in forming necessary literacy programs for adults who did not receive a 23.primary education; 24.5. Requests that classrooms limit to 30 students each, for the purpose of a 25.pleasant learning experience to students; 26.6. Expecting that nations help parents pay for their children’s education by 27.receiving “user payments” (for instance classroom assistance or school 28.maintenance); 29.7. REVISE Your operative clauses don't really discuss what the role of the UN is in this problem. You start to talk about it towards the end with UNESCO but the bulk of the clauses include encouraging the countries to make their education better. You can perhaps expand this to urging the UN to create a talk force of teachers to deploy in these countries to improve education. Just make sure your operative clauses offer something specific for the UN to do and change this problem. |

Seems like you covered everything Akshay requested. I'm going to say Pass Great resolution. Looks good to me - if Akshay has something to add, however, or wishes to revise my decision, he is more than welcome to do that. However, it's entirely probable he won't even check the forum again until round 2 of resolutions, so just to be safe, I'll issue my decision here. |
