Name: Alex Chang Committee: Global Economics Subject: Income Inequality Proposed by: Taiwan The General Assembly, 1) Alarmed by the staggering rate at which income inequality is growing in countries across the 2) globe, 3) Cognizant of the consequences of growing income inequality, including future political 4) instability and economic stagnation, 5) Bearing in mind that a lack of international regulations on trade is contributing to greater 6) corporate profits at the expense of workers, 7) Aware of the need to adjust tax brackets in order to alleviate the burden on the middle and 8) working classes, 9) Noting that developing countries are limited in their ability to reduce income inequality 10) Recognizing that many developed nations allow for tax loopholes which obfuscates the 11) process of taxation, 12) Noting Further the report published by the UN Development Program on the severity of 13) global income inequality and its effects, 14) 1. Supports the stance taken by the UN Development Program to reduce global income 15) inequality and mitigate its effects; 16) 2. Calls for the recalibration of tax brackets within developed and developing countries; 17) 3. Urges the UN to consider greater regulations on international trade (and tariffs) as well as 18) labor practices abroad (to prevent the exploitation of foreign workers); 19) 4. Endorses the reduction of tax loopholes in developed nations (for both individual and 20) corporate taxes); 21) 5. Recommends harsher consequences for evading tax laws as well as international 22) regulations on trade and labor practices; 23) 6. Approves of international agreements to track international corporate activities and 24) practices. |

REVISE Laws concerning "the calibration of tax brackets" is outside the jurisdiction of the United Nations. Also, you don't really talk about what the role of the UN is in this topic; rather, you talk about recommending countries to take action. Perhaps make the operative clauses more related to the UN (create a committee to work with nations to better account for income distribution) |

Pass Looks good to me - if Akshay has something to add, however, or wishes to revise my decision, he is more than welcome to do that.
