Name: Rannon Cho Committee: Global Security Subject: Unmanned Drones Proposed by: Taiwan (ROC) The General Assembly, 1) Aware of the use of unmanned drones becoming increasingly 2) prevalent in multiple countries, 3) Cautious of the countries (for example the US) disregarding 4) regulations and using drones for warfare to combat against 5) terrorists, 6) Realizing that UN laws are far too lax currently and are easily 7) manipulated, 8) Keeping in mind that the lives of innocent civilians are put at 9) risk when drones are deployed for combat, 10) Understanding that investing in technological advancements and 11) upgrades of military might may arouses conflicts between 12) countries, 13) Recognizing that drones will be needed in the future, whether 14) for military or researching purposes, 15) Guided by the UN’s 2011 “Protection of human rights and 16) fundamental freedoms while countering terrorism” (which is 17) dedicated to strengthening regulations regarding drone warfare use), 18) Aware of terrorists posing threats to regions is the primary cause of 19) drone warfare, 20) 1. Obligates countries to acquire permissions from the UN in order to 21) commit drone strikes or applying drones for military or combat uses; 22) 2. Recommends nations to use drones solely when required, and not as 23) its primary protocol for warfare; 24) 3. Urges the UN to reconsider and tighten regulations directed to drone 25) warfare (in order to decrease civilian deaths) and increase the severity 26) of consequences for abusing the regulations; 27) 4. Calls upon the UN to support and enforce the “Protection of human 28) rights and fundamental freedoms while countering terrorism” when 29) or if necessary; 30) 5. Supports drones as use for research and development; 31) 6. Requests that nations containing (not necessarily using) drones for 32) warfare are restricted to certain amounts; 33) 7. Pass For future reference though, be sure to end your last operative clause (line 34 in your case) with a period rather than a semicolon, so that other delegates may know your resolution is finished and that you're not missing a page. |
