Name: Juliann Ping Committee: Human Rights Subject: Human Trafficking Proposed by: Taiwan The General Assembly, 1) Fully believing that human trafficking - the illegal trade and sale of humans for labor or 2) prostitution - is a global issue that needs to be resolved, 3) Alarmed that over two million people are trafficked at any time and 4) seven hundred thousand people are trafficked over boarders annually, 5) Fully aware of the causes of human trafficking such as the desires for money, free 6) labor, and sexual exploitation, 7) Deeply conscious of the widespread state of poverty in many developing countries and the 8) increasing demand for cheap labor from developed countries, 9) Recognizing the recent efforts made to counteract human trafficking like The 10) Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, and Women and 11) Children and the Blue Heart Campaign Against Human Trafficking, 12) Noting that some countries, especially those less developed and less 13) industrialized, are failing to meet the standards set by the United Nations, 14) Observing the efforts and campaigns made for increased publicity about 15) human trafficking, 16) 1. Urges developed countries to continue the protocol mentioned above 17) and developing countries to bring more attention to human trafficking; 18) 2. Calls for increased publicity on the issue worldwide through social media and 19) cheap forms of advertisement; 20) 3. Endorses the United Nations Voluntary Trust Fund on Human Trafficking and 21) recommends developed countries to provide additional help by donations; 22) 4. Requests further security around borders with significant problems of human 23) trafficking; 24) 5. Requests for the termination of alliances between governments and traffickers 25) and harsher enforcements of punishments for traffickers; 26) 6. Urges the United Nations to confront the governments suspected to have close 27) relations with human traffickers; 28) 7. Pass NOTE HOWEVER, that the resolution you attached to your post is not your own and does not match the one you posted here. I'm assuming that's purely mistake (it's from Singapore, after all) but just double-check that's not the one you actually use, lol. |
