Name: Sneha Shah Committee: Health and Human Services Subject: Education in Areas of Conflict Proposed By: Taiwan (ROC) The General Assembly: 1) Regrets the fact that education in areas of conflict is of poor 2) quality and difficult to achieve, 3) Alarmed by the fact that in 2010, 61 million children of primary 4) school-age were neither attending nor enrolled in school, 5) Recalling the many actions taken to change the educational status 6) of children in developing countries by organizations (such as UNICEF, 7) DoSomething.org, One Laptop per Child, and others), 8) Keeping in mind that although these programs have helped, 50% of 9) the world’s uneducated children come from conflict-afflicted countries, 10) Reaffirming the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization’s 2000 11) “Education for All” movement which involves, among other things, donor countries 12) providing financial and technological resources to countries in conflict, 13) Realizing that in some countries, corrupt governments and poor economies 14) lead to conflict, hindering children’s educational opportunities, 15) Supports the idea of donating resources and providing financial aid to conflicted 16) areas to provide an education; 17) Accepts the goals created to bring education to those who have none or risk their 18) lives to get an education; 19) Further recommends other countries actively participate in aiding areas of unrest 20) by becoming donor nations or such; 21) Invites UN members to become part of the UNESCO “Education for All” 22) movement to assist with the critical issue of education; 23) Expresses its hope that nations will unite to help solve this truly pressing 24) problem and that education will reach all in areas of conflict. |

Loving the timing. Truly, wonderful. Anyways, you... Pass Your operative clauses, however, are just a bit lacking in detail - you 'support the idea of donating resources and providing financial aid', but that's a bit obvious, who doesn't? Perhaps something as simple as encouraging donations might add a little more power to the resolution. Additionally, line 20, you advocate aid "by becoming donor nations or such;" - the 'or such' really takes away from a very good operative clause. While this is good enough to pass, I believe changing those two items may make for a much more successful resolution at the conference. |
