Country: Taiwan Committee: Economics Topic: Economic Sanctions as a Political Tool The General Assembly 1) Fully aware, that if the world is not in perfect condition, then work must be done 2) to achieve that goal, 3) Recognizing that one of the most important items for leading a successful world, 4) is the safety of the world’s environments and ecosystems, 5) Noting that in the oceans, as well as lands, when disasters due to oil occur, the 6) environments get harmed, 7) Recalling that the numerous oil spills in the last decade, most notable among 8) these the British Petroleum spill off the gulf coast, as well as the Shell disaster off 9) Nigeria, have dumped dozens of millions of barrels of petroleum into natural 10) ecosystems, 11) Taking into account that oil is one of the most important substances to the world 12) economy, 13) Realizing that oil is necessary, and cannot be cut out of the world economy 14) quickly and efficiently, 15) Guided by the united Nations previous attempts to limit Oil based harm to the 16) environment by removing lead from gasoline, as well as taking a lead in 17) responding wherever oil based disasters occur, 18) Noting further that this list of United Nations actions is long on responding and 19) short on stopping these harmful disasters, 20) 1) Calls for a joint United Nations effort to patrol the state owned 21) companies as well as the Oil Supermajors, and fight for a cease in 22) oil based disasters. 23) 2) Urges each and every member of these United Nations to put in 24) place anti-spill regulations, consisting of regulations to prevent all 25) preventable disasters, such as a ruptured pipeline, a run aground 26) oil barge, a broken oil well, as well as laws protecting the safety of 27) all laws in the industry and to impose bans on non compliant firms. 28) 3) Trusts that every nation to create harsh sanctions, such as loss 29) of the permit to drill for oil, if the regulations of that country are 30) not followed. 31) 4) Requests that the joint members of these United Nations join in 32) unified sanctions that allow no import, export, or use, of every 33) company that knowingly endangers the environment through 34) disregard of these sanctions, as well as the oil from the countries 35) that either do not regulate their oil production or trade, either do 36) not create sanctions for the breaking of these regulations or do not 37) enforce their regulations, or of those that do not join in the United 38) Nations combined sanctions against these countries and 39) companies. 40) 5) Declares accordingly that a committee be formed, with 41) permanent big five members, and twenty more members, that will 42) routinely inspect the oil mining and transporting facilities of each 43) country to make sure they are up to par, as well as inspect the 44) regulations and sanctions of each member state, to ensure 45) correct legislation is created. Revise The only real thing you should fix here is italicizing declaratory clauses and underlining operative clauses. Unfortunately, I can't pass a resolution if it doesn't fit the format. If you can fix that I can pass it - other than that, fantastic work. |
