Name: Rupinderjit Briar Committee: Environmental Subject: Marine Plastic Debris and Microplastics Proposed by: Taiwan The General Assembly, 1)Aware of the fact that Marine Plastic Debris and has been 2)a growing extremely large problem all over the world since 1970 3)guided by human ignorance, 4)Alarmed by the prevalence of marine pollution in 5)Developing countries and regions (some examples including Bangladesh, Djibouti, and 6)Taiwan), 7)Cognizant of low filtering programs 8)especially in developing countries, 9)Taking note that developed countries are large contributors to this issue 10)because of luxury purposes , 11)Recognizing that developing countries with weak governments 12)cannot afford dams or other means of protection, 13)Reaffirming that the UN has created mass amounts of organizations and projects 14)like the UN water nations conference and the Earth summit, 15)Recalling that the UN has done its best to raise awareness and has 16)established a “World water day”, 17)Guided by projects like the International Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation 18)Decade, The International Conference on Water and the Environment, and The Earth 19)Summit, 20)Supports the aforementioned UN projects 21)Calls For emphasis on education on Marine plastic debris within these 22)developing countries; 23)Approves of direct aid to developing countries like 24)Bangladesh , Taiwan, and Djibouti; 25)Endorses more filtration systems, and more effort from local governments 26)and more proper means of good transportation (as bad means could lead to a spill, 27)leading to extensive pollution); 28)Calls upon more money and projects in areas that can’t afford cleaning 29)and filtrating their water on their own 30)Expresses its hope that the world can be aware as a nation and realize the 31)importance of such an issue; 32)Urges the UN to consider tighter regulations on industry, 33)especially in developing nations. |
